The Obelisk

-Chapter 41: Part 2-

Up ahead, blocking the view of the setting sun, a giant, man-made building stuck out from the earth, green and red ivy climbing all over it.

“Eeeeeeee,” Nyx squeaked.

A small trio of tiny Shadowmane kits gasped and whispered excitedly to each other, their tails flung high. Even the eldest-looking Shadowmanes cracked the smallest of smiled at the sight of the Ruins.

Then Forest heard something… a slight noise… coming from beneath the piles up bricked and climbing ivy.

It sounded like…. Music.

“Let’s go!” He heard Blazeheart bellow. One by one, the Shadowmanes farthest up entered the building, and soon enough, Forest and the others were next in line.

(Siri voice: now playing: Jump Around)

As Forest ducked his head and stepped inside the Ruins, his eyes widened.

Several carnivores of all kinds were packed inside—maybe fifty at max. Each one had found a ledge to perch on, or a patch of dirt on the ground near the entrance—and they all were ready, smiling, for the song about to be sung.

“You’ve really never been here?” Nyx asked from in front of him.

“Like we said—we’re sorta new to the forest,” Spark said.

“We’ll you’ve been missing out,” Nyx said. “I’ll be your guide. Do what I do!”

Above them all was a large spire, wide enough for a medium sized carnivore to stand on. A large Thylacoleo walked up—and he started singing.

Well more like rapping. It filled Forest with this nervous energy—watching all the nearest carnivores bob their heads with the song as he sung out loud, his voice carried acrossed the room like wind.

Suddenly, everyone started jumping. Forest hadn’t been listening to the words—but now he heard it as Nyx yelled, “jump!”

Immediately Rust was jumping. He jumped so high—up and down in place, throwing his talons to the ceiling.

Spark smiled and started jumping too—and Forest followed along.

Everyone except Crimson was jumping now. Everyone in the whole building.

Jump!

Jump!

Jump!

Jump!

Jump!

After that, the Thylacoleo was rapping again—and Rust was grinning his head off and pushing and shoving mischievously at other carnivores, who laughed and pushed right back. He tugged at Crimsons tail, shouted something happily—and she raised her eyebrows at him.

Jump around!

Jump around!

Jump around!

Jump around!

Jump up, jump up, and get down!

Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump!

Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump!

“Yeah!” Nyx whooped, flinging herself into the air. Rust nodded excitedly at Crimson, and slowly—very slowly, she started jumping in the air. After a bit—she was smiling along with everyone else.

Jump! Jump! Jump!

Jump! Jump! Jump!

Jump! Jump! Jump!

Several minutes later, as the song contained on—Forest felt extremely free.

But then a wall of ivy was flung up—and a booming, authoritative voice roared,

“WHAT IS GOING ON IN HERE?”
