If your lazy and dont wanna feed it like me just do cheat infinitestats and it wont die but the second ypu put it in a cryo pod or leave the game the command wears off

Im not sure but I seem to have had the best luck taming the ferox in the water gen 1 asa. Feed him and jump into the lake so he doesn't have any walls to glitch into.
