This is for newer players so please don’t downvote because your Quetz and anky can get more. Step one make a raft with a bed and some storage and if you want to you can put a furnace down. Step two if you have an anky get them on the raft with some ramps and roofs. Step 3 look at the ark wiki and find the nearest metal rocks (the gold ones). Step four Christopher Columbus your a$$ over there. Step five for longer stays make a little house nothing fancy even 2 foundations a bed and storage with some backup gear will do. Step six get that metal. Also bring way more than you think you ever will, 1900 metal ore will only make 10 longneck rifles. If ur on mobile just go to the top of the volcano and there will be all the metal, obsidian, and crystal u will ever need with ZERO things that want to kill u.

I’ve noticed (for earlier starters like me) a good way to start is if you can get a meta pickaxe you can mine the little groups of rocks on the beach that look kind of shiny and they will give quite a bit of metal

Herbivore island has a bunch of metal rocks and there are no predators there

The rocks that are full gold give tons of metal, just head over to the volcano and ur all set.

If you are having trouble getting metal and don’t have anky, go for the small piles of rocks you should get 2-3 per pile

For the people that live by a river and are new and want a safe way to get metal river rocks give a lot more then normal stones

Tame argy and anky find some place where is a lot of metal pick up anky with argy harvest metal with him carry it back to base and put all your metal in industrial forge or refining forge
