Guns n’ Rexes

Chapter 11: Keep Your Gun As Close As Your Friends

Turns out that although Reaper shredded it to pieces, that guy’s armour still partly works. It’s a damaged gauntlet but when I put it on it seems to react to my fist. I somehow managed to get it workin’ ‘cause I could crush boulders in one hand or punch the ground and cause the trees to rumble like the guy we took it from did. After that encounter, we decided that the safest thing to do would be get out of the tundra and away from the danger here. We held a group meetin’ around a campfire to see what we should do next.

“Well… I mean, we got something out of all that.” Chris stated. Will was fumblin’ round with the rest of the scraps, seein’ if he could get it to work.

“Sure is somethin’ ain’t it.” Jesse remarked. I was too busy tryin’ out the glove to listen to any of ‘em, but what Faith said peaked my interest.

“If we can take that bit of armour, what’s to say we can’t get more?” Will poked his head up and said:

“Pretty sure I can fix it all together.” So, that was our plan. Find ‘em and take their armour.

It’s good to be back in familiar land, where the locals know us and we know the trade routes. When I finally put my original black and red clothes on, it was more relievin’ than you’d realise. Of course, that relief was short lived when another one of those future people jumped on us with a grey and green suit. We lept into action, doin’ our best to restrain ‘em while I distracted ‘em. I caught her punches with that glove, and punched her with so much power she crashed through a boulder. When I started to lose the fight I called Dagger in- he pounced on her from behind, rippin’ her helmet off and clawin’ at the armour. Chris sent Cyclone in, who hit her in the head so hard she fell unconcious. Perfect- almost a full set of armour.

We had a discussion about what to do with it.

“Well… I feel like I should have the armour.” Began Will, and we all agreed since he’s best with engineerin’ and figurin’ out how to use it. We started discussin’ what to do with the woman.

“We should let her go, that way she can tell her pals to go after us. We’ll get more tech that way.” Faith suggested. I had to agree. Jesse didn’t.

“We ain’t lettin’ her go nowhere. Kill ‘er.”

“Jesse- that’s not what we’re doing.” Chris told him.

“And why ain’t we?”

“Because we just agreed to-“

“No- we ain’t, I’m callin’ this a no.” Exhasperated, I tried to reason with him.

“Jesse we are lettin’ her go.”

“Oh, now we listenin’ to a ni-“ I pulled my gun out and pointed it at Jesse’s head. Exhasperation quickly turned to rage.

“Finish. That. Sentence.” I told him.

“Ya pointin’ ya gun at me now?”

“Finish. That. Sentence.” I repeated.

“Ya dare point ya darn gun at me!?”

“You dare call him that you racist-“

“Ya know what I did for ya? Ya know what I did! And now,” He whipped out his pistol and pointed it at me. The others drew their weapons and pointed them at us like a Mexican standoff. “Now ya point ya gun at me ‘cause o’ him.”

“Yeah, you were gonna be racist to my friend. I’m not lettin’ that slide.”

“Ya know, last I checked they were workin’ in fields and here they mean somethin’.”

“Guys just calmly lower your guns. It doesn’t have to get worse.” Faith told us. We all slowly lowered our weapons. I turned my back to him but on second thought… I spun ‘round and hit him so hard his teeth went flyin’ and he was out cold.
