The Obelisk
-Chapter 32-
An Obelisk.
Obelisk, Forest thought, testing out the word. Obelisk. He’d heard that before.
Maybe while his parents talked in the other room as he ran by, chasing his sisters? As he read Ri’s journal when she thought he was asleep? Overhearing his sisters secret conversations?
He wasn’t sure.
“I’ve seen that before,” Spark exclaimed. “We called them Sky Rocks.”
“There is no way,” Crimson said, “that that Little Rock came from THAT.”
“It’s possible that a meteorite hit the Obelisk and broke off a piece,” Needles explained.
“Hmmm,” Crimson mused.
Rust stared up at the floating object, then looked down at the rune in his talons. “Is it dangerous?”
Forest thought about that as Needles said: “I don’t think so.”
What if it is? Forest wondered. That Obelisk—it f l o a t s. How could that be possible?
“Do you know why it’s just floating up there?” He decided to ask Needles.
“Well…” Needles scratched his head with a pensive expression. “It’s very possible that the atmosphere fades closer to space up there—it is pretty high up.”
“Ah,” Spark said, nodding.
“We should get going,” Needles said. “We can take the rune with us, if you want.”
“I don’t want to,” Rust said ruefully.
“I do,” Forest said. “It’s seems interesting. Rust, if you don’t wanna hold onto it—I can hang on to it for now.”
“Oh—sure,” Rust stepped forward, and set the rune carefully in Forests palm. “There you go.”
“Thanks,” Forest said, holding the rock at eye level to study. It felt cold in his talons, smooth and a bit heavy.
“You can carry it in here,” Needles said, pulling down his sack.
Forest accepted the bag and gently set the rune inside, maneuvering it carefully around the three scrolls inside. The sack was blue and green dyed wool, carefully twined together and woven to create the soft shape. He wondered who made it.
He slung it over his shoulder. “Thankyou.”
“OK! OK let’s GOOOOO,” Crimson said. “Looking at that Obelisk is giving me a headache.”
Really? Forest had wondered why his head began to throb a tiny bit at the back of his brain, but he hadn’t exactly noticed till now. He thought he was just tired. Crimson has a headache… she’s being sarcastic about the Obelisk… but what if that’s actually it?
If the Obelisk was giving Crimson, and Forest the same affects… were the others feeling the same?
And was it the Obelisk causing it?
Live Or Die
Chapter 1: All Battles Leave Scars
When I opened my eyes, I was covered in sand. I got up and looked around. I was on a beach, and past all the sand a dense layer of foliage obscured my view of the land in which I found myself. As I got up I noticed a kite-shaped hole in my wrist. I looked at it and saw a metal object implanted in my arm. I scratched and tore at it but it was firmly lodged in my wrist. That was a problem for another time. I took a look around again and I saw a berry bush. I went over and took a few that looked safe to eat and put them in my mouth. Probably a bad idea, but I didn’t die immediately and assumed they were edible. I took some with me and that’s when I realised that there was a plump little bird following me. It was eyeing up the berries in my hand, but I wasn’t the sharing type. All throughout the day and night it followed me around driving me crazy until I finally buckled and landed several punches into it, where it fell unconscious and I snapped out of my rage. I felt guilty, so I gathered more berries and put it beside it for when it woke. I then put a wall of rocks and pebbles to shield it. When dawn broke, it was outside the little hole in the rocks where I had decided to sleep. It then brought me berries- I took them and it followed me by my side. A few hours later we encountered a frilled bipedal lizard that came charging through the bushes towards us. There was a stick beside my feet and I got an idea.
I grabbed the branch that lay at my feet, and swung it menacingly around myself. The bird that was following me squawked and charged the lizard. It spat venom that blinded the bird, and I rushed in. I delivered several blows to the head, and I broke the stick over its head and grabbed its legs, where whilst it was disorientated I threw it into a nearby boulder, although it left an injury on my neck. A small scar would be formed there, but that wasn’t my concern. The beast recovered but was still in confusion, and I took the opportunity to smash another branch over its head, where it fell unconscious like the dodo. Now, before I had spotted a rotting corpse along the beach, and since the dodo was my friend after I fed it… I rushed back and took some meat from the corpse, and although it was rotting and disgusting it brought me another friend- the dinosaur. Now, I had a nerdy friend before all this who was obsessed with dinosaurs, and he said there was one like this called a… a dilof… a dilofo… nevermind. We trekked across the beach and I decided to string together some clothes from fibres. That’s when I found the tracks… human tracks.

Jungle Threat
Chapter 6
"You're help is greatly appreciated. So heres the plan. We have scouts searching for the king. Once he is located, we attack. We must kill him before he kills us. We will split into 5 groups, to attack him from all directions. The 5th will attack from above, dropping from vines and trees. Understood?" All of the soldier dinopithecus saluted at vine. "Good. Now go collect weapons from the armory and wait until my command." Vine ordered. He turned around and walked towards the forest. Vine climbed up a tree and admired the golden sunset. You would never know that a war was happening...
