Chapter two: Tom’s memories.

Several years ago…

King Edward and Queen Sophia sat on their thrones in the throne room of the shadow phoenix castle. The city beside the castle was strangely empty and so was the castle. Everyone was gone except Sophia and Edward. It was like they had been warned about the coming monster. Suddenly the castle gates banged opened and a man about twenty two walked in. He had slicked back black hair, dark green eyes that were shadowed in blackness, his skin pale, and he was wearing black clothes. Edward stiffened. “Thomas.” Edward said stiffly. Sophia inhaled slowly, her face contorted with grief. “Why are you here?” Edward asked. Tom cocked his head at his parents. “Don’t you know? I’ve come to…claim my throne as the rightful king of the shadow phoenix kingdom.” Tom said. “Son, we have heard the rumors. Why ARE you here?” Edward asked. Sophia bit her lip. Tom gave a small evil grin. “Fine. I won’t lie to you. I’ve come to find James. I know you know where he is, I need to…talk to him.” Sophia sighed. “We can’t tell you Tom.” Sophia said. “We have heard the rumors about how you’ve been mistreating your power and what you’ve been doing, and…the monster you have become.James contacted us and told us what happened the day at the lake. ” Edward said. For a second a look of grief filled Tom’s face then a angry flush took over Tom’s face. “I am a monster?! ME?! HOW DARE YOU! I AM NOT THE MONSTER OF THIS FAMILY! ALL MY LIFE YOU’VE TREATED ME LIKE THE NOTHING! NOTHING! I WILL BE KING! NOT JAMES THE MURDERER, ME!” Tom shouted. “Son…the Krakos is taking your anger and grief and turning you into a monster.” Sophia said. Edward backed his wife up. “And unless you straighten out you will NEVER be king. We already have another heir to the throne.” Tom sneered. “Who? Jenny? She is to meek and shy! She will NEVER be a good queen and besides…she’ll never make it out of the city alive.” Tom said. “Now where is James?!” Edward and Sophia stood at the same time. “Son we love you but…we have to protect our kingdom no matter the cost.” Sophia said. Tom’s eyes turned black and his medallion shown a dark black. “FINE, IF THATS THE WAG YOU WANNA BE.” Tom said, his voice turning deeper. He began to grow into a large black beast with huge horns. “ARGHHH!” Tom roared. Edward dove behind his heavy throne and picked it up, hurling it at Tom. The Krakos Tom deflected the throne quickly. Sophia who had no power(because she married into the family) grabbed a sword from the wall and through it at Tom. It struck Tom in the arm. Tom roared in anger. He deftly pulled the sword out as fast as lightning and threw it at his mother. It was to fast, Sophia could not dodge it. Suddenly Edward leaped in front of his wife. The sword stabbed Edward through. “NO!” Sophia cried. She collapsed to her knees in front of her fallen husband. “Edward-no please don’t leave- me.” Sophia sobbed. Edward’s lifeless eyes stared back at her. “UNLESS YOU WANT TO END UP LIKE YOUR HUSBAND,WHERE IS JAMES?!” Tom bellowed. Sophia turned her teary face to her son. She straightened her back. “Tom, I will never ever tell you.” Sophia said in a strong voice. “Then you leave me no choice.”

A long away from the castle a old woman in a carriage and a few guards were driving away from the castle. They took a break for a second. “Are you okay your majesty?” One guard asked. The old woman looked at him, the transformed into a young woman with red hair and green eyes. “Yes. Thank you, I’ll be fine.” Jenny said. She wiped a tear from her eye before it fell. She had to stay strong. For her parents. For her kingdom. For James.
