Author’s note: This is my first chapter in the TOT collaboration. It will be a relatively short chapter, and it will of course contain spoilers to JTAC. So I advise reading most of JTAC before reading my chapters. Anyway, enjoy!

In Journey Through All Creatures Chapter 25…

“72, 71, 70, 69, 68, 67, 66…”

The overseer arena was pulsating brightly with white lights. The obelisks down on The Island pulsated brightly with colors, and the Red Obelisk forming a giant red beam, shooting towards the arena. The ascension was about to begin.

Sodden and his friends sat around the terminal on the north end of the arena. The terminal glowed blue and purple, beginning to flash loudly.

“Well… here we go. Time to go to Scorched Earth.” Serenity said, confident. Nal chuckled.

“Yeah. What’re we gonna do when we get there?” Nal said. Sodden shrugged.

“Not sure. We’ll just have to wait and see.” Sodden said. Dorack nodded.

“Rod, I expect to see-” Dorack said, turning around, then he saw nothing. In Rod’s place was a big cluster of orange and purple smoke.

“Uh… where’s Rod?” Dorack asked, confused. Sodden gasped as he turned to the smoke.

“I… I don’t know. Uh… wait. Serenity, what’s-” Sodden said as he turned around to his back. Serenity wasn’t there. All that was there was a big pile of orange and gold smoke. Then the orange and gold smoke, along with purple-ish mist, enveloped the room slowly. Then closing in on Sodden and Dorack, they backed up, coughing.

“What’s going on?” Sodden yelled, shocked and bamboozled. Dorack turned to his side, and Nal wasn’t there either.

“NAL! Wha- where’s everyone!” Dorack yelled. Sodden was gasping as he backed up to the terminal, and continued coughing as the smoke closed in on everyone. Sodden gasped for air as he turned to see Dorack has vanished too.

“Wha- where’s everyone…” Sodden gasped, and he then collapsed to the ground. His body felt queasy, he felt as if he was being dissolved. He then coughed loudly and the smoke enveloped the entire room, and the arena flashed loudly one last time.

BOOM!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sodden gasped as his eyes shot open. He gasped as he stood up, looking around. He saw what seemed familar. The herbivore island. He was near some neighboring islands. But at the same time, the place felt completely new. He could see strange locations far out in the distance, different colored obelisks, and even the sky seemed strange. Clouds filled the sky, and barely any sunlight was coming through. Sodden gasped and looked into his bag. He still had his levels and his items. He then placed his hands on the bag and took it off his back, then placed it onto the ground. He crouched down and opened it. Then he lifted his head to look around the area. The others were nowhere to be seen. Then he looked up at the main island, and gasped. He could see smoke rising from the back of the island. There was also one person on the beach near where Sodden was, and he was running towards him.
“Hey! I found you.” The person said as he walked across the beach, through the shallow water, and Sodden stood up and walked towards him.
“Hey. Uh… what’s happening? Where’s the others?” Sodden asked. The person shrugged.
“I don’t know… uh, I landed on that big obelisk up there…” The person said as he pointed upwards, where, atop a cliff, was a big platform, with streaks of navy blue going through it. A terminal sat in the middle, with a giant navy blue pillar of light shooting upwards. Metal pillars surrounded it. Sodden gasped as he looked up at it.
“Uh… okay. Well, Dorack, what’s going on?” Sodden asked. Dorack shrugged.
“I don’t really know. These weird areas far away… they seem strange. Let’s just get a raft ready and we’ll get over there and look around for the others.” Sodden said. Dorack nodded.
“Agreed.” Dorack said. They both turned forwards to the beaches of the island, then they walked through the sand, through shallow waters. Then as they turned a bend at the cliff, they saw someone walking towards them. They were waving their hands at them.
“Hey! Where are we?” The person shouted as she ran down towards them.
“Nal. Uh… I have no idea. It seems like we’re on the southeast isles, near herbivore island, but… there’s other areas that are nowhere near recognizable to what we see on the Island.” Dorack said as he looked around the place, clouds stretching across the sky, slightly dark. Then there was another thing they had noticed. There were almost no creatures to be found. Nearly zero. Not a single Parasaur, Stego, nothing. Just bushes and trees across the entire island, along with rocks. Sodden then noticed the big cone of smoke coming from the other end of the island.
“Uh… did you guys place that?” Sodden asked. The others shrugged. Then they heard footsteps. Another person walked from behind, and they had landed on the western end of the island. Sodden turned around to them. Serenity was walking towards them, and she still had her levels and items.
“Hey. Where are we?” Sodden asked. Serenity shrugged.
“No idea. Though I did see two people near a campfire, on a log, chatting or whatever. Rod’s nowhere to be seen.” Serenity said. Sodden gasped softly.
“Wait… if Rod’s missing, then who’re these guys?” Dorack asked, confused.
“Should we go chat with them?” Nal asked. Sodden sighed softly.
“I don’t really know. Wherever we are, we need to figure out what to do.” Sodden said. The others nodded in agreement.
Black Obelisk…
Around the same time…
The crumbled cave was lit only by a single campfire. Drake had demorphed into his human form to save space. He sat on a rock, near a campfire, and Aragorn, Emerald, and Darkhide all sat near him. It was only the crackling of the fire and sizzling of wood that filled the air. Then a sound broke the silence. The obelisk flashed brightly. And someone had landed near the terminal.
Sorry it’s short, guys. Couldn’t think of what to write here. But uh… now that I’ve introduced my characters, it should be easy, hopefully…
Anyway, yeah. Hope you enjoyed and I’ll see you later!
