Toxic Tales: Chapter 15

Fight

The baryonyx ran out of the cage and at Asclepius, who sidestepped it just before its jaws closed around his neck. It growled before lunging at him, grabbing his arm in its jaws. Asclepius bit down on its back, causing it to roar in pain. Chirping erupted from the stands over overlooking them as humans jumped around in excitement. The baryonyx was backing away as Asclepius charged it, knocking it down. He pinned it down with his foot while it squirmed in an attempt at escaping, "Please, I don't want to die," it begged, "I've got a brother, I'm all he's..." it was too late, Asclepius bit its neck until he heard an unnerving crunch, "What have I done?" He said aloud. The humans guided him back to the cage as the stands erupted in chirping again. Once in the cage, he realized just how much the baryonyx had done to him, all up and down his legs were claw marks from its escape attempt, and his arm was mauled.

"That was a good fight, you have potential for such a young allo," said the velonasaur, "from what little I saw from the window in your cell you had a quick and easy fight."

"How do you do that? Just kill someone like it's nothing?"

"Because I've done this for as long as I remember, I barely remember my life before the fights, just me and another velonasaur, I think he was my brother and our parents. Then a pack of humans separated me from them before transporting me here."

"I'm so sorry I didn't -"

"I don't want pity." The velonasaur looked at his arm before saying, "That thing got you good, just wait until night and Eris will have you covered, as long as you give her a scrap of meat."

"Who's Eris?"

"A thief, she brings medicine in return for food, and she's a microraptor. Move over, there's a wyvern in the arena."

"Achelois!" Yelled Asclepius as he spun around and peered out the window, leaving enough space for the velonasaur to see too. He saw two massive cages, one had a deep green wyvern with even darker wings, it was Achelois, and across the arena was a cage with a fully grown magmasaur.
