Tales of Pandora

Origins of Salizar, Chapter 2 ~Torture~

“Things will be different from now on. No more coddling the apes. They are test subjects, nothing more.” Dr. Primalis said coldly. Dr. Flight and Dr. Haze glared at him. He ignored this. “Now. Let me review your work.” Dr. Primalis said. He took their notes on the new serum. “Hmm your forgetting one crucial detail Doctors. The DNA of these apes is not like that of chimps back home. This will only make things worse.” Dr. Primalis said. “Of course! Your right. Does that mean it won’t work for humans?” Dr. Flight asked. “Hmm, time will tell.” Dr. Primalis said. “I’ll get to work synthesizing the new serum.” Haze said. “Good, now, Doctor Flight. Show me these mesopithicus.” Primalis said. Dr. Flight opened the kennels and told the mesos to go to class. Caesar looked at Primalis defiantly. Primalis chuckled. Dr. Flight walked up to the front of the class, “Ok class, toda-” “I’m going to stop you right there doctor, they are not a class. They are subjects. This is an experiment.” Primalis said. Dr. Flight tried to hold in her rage. “Today we will learn about Multiplication.” She said. Salizar hooted happily, he liked math. “Silence mesopithicus! Doctor Flight is explaining.” Primalis snapped. “Can anyone tell me what 4 times 7 is?” Flight said. Salizar quickly wrote down the problem and solved it, he held up his paper for her to see, it said 28. “Good work Salizar! That is correct.” She said. Caesar wrote the same thing a few moments after Salizar. “Too slow Caesar.” Salizar said. “Just wait for art!” Caesar said. This was Salizars least favorite subject. “Enough chatting.” Primalis said. The class went on like this, it was very awkward, Primalis judged everything that happened, and he didn’t like it. After class the group went back to their kennels and rested, they were all asleep when Primalis walked in the room. “Doctor Haze, have you finished the serum?” Primalis asked. “Yes it’s ready.” Haze said. “Well then, no time to waste. Bring the subjects to the table. Dr. Flight obeyed. She brought out Noa. “Well? What are you waiting for inject the serum.” Primalis said. “We have to sedate him first.” Dr. Haze said. “I don’t see why. Inject the serum.” Dr. Primalis said. Haze reluctantly obeyed. He injected the serum into Noa, the ape instantly started screaming, “please! Sedate him!” Dr. Flight shouted. Dr. Haze got out a needle and sedated Noa. “I told you not to do that.” Dr. Primalis said. “It’s just narcoberries and rotten meat. What’s the issue.” Dr. Haze said defiantly. “The “issue” is I explicitly told you not to sedate the subject, and you disobeyed me.” Dr. Primalis said. “Your insane!” Dr. Flight said. “And your emotional. King Drake will be hearing about your insolence.” Dr. Primalis said. He left the building and flew away on his Argentavis.

The next morning Primalis arrived to the facility with King Drake and a few soldiers. Noa had perished. Drake was enraged, “YOU SAID YOU COULD FIX THIS!” He shouted, holding Dr. Haze up by the throat. “Ben!” Dr. Flight shouted. Drake shoved her aside, Caesar and Salizar started shouting and banging on the kennel bars. Primalis just stood back grinning. “I think neither of you are fit for this work. Perhaps you’ll do better herding our soakers?” Drake said. “No! Please! Anything but that!” Dr. Haze said. “Oh? The dungeon then? Take them out of my sight.” Drake said. His guards escorted the Doctors out of the Facility. “Primalis, see to it you do better than them! My daughter doesn’t have long…” King Drake said. He exited the facility and Primalis could hear the footsteps of his Charcarodontosaurus stomping away. Primalis grinned and turned to the two chimps. “Your mine now…” he said.

The next few years were hard. Primalis prevented their deaths, although at times they wished he hadn’t. Their days consisted of class, which with Primalis as teacher was no longer fun, he was a brutal, and cold man. And they had daily experimentations, which he never used sedatives for. He saved King Drakes daughter, but her sickness returned, her cognitive functions declined. Drake was furious but Primalis assured him he could perfect the serum.

Salizar barely spoke to Caesar, he grew distant. Caesar did too but he hadn’t lost all hope that things could be better. One afternoon Primalis walked into the lab with Drake following behind. “The mesopithicus subjects are far beyond my expectations. The dark one even understands the basics of Tek machinery.” Primalis said. “And..?” Drake said blankly. “And I believe it is time for human testing.” Primalis said. “It better work this time, for your sake.” Drake said. “Of course my liege.” Primalis said. That night a man was brought into the lab for human testings, it was Ben Haze, he was bruised and dirty, Primalis sat him in the chair, and injected the serum. “AAAAGHHH!” Haze shouted. The mesos both shouted at Primalis to stop, but of course all he heard was the max ravings of apes. “Please.. enough..” Haze pleaded. “How do you feel.” Primalis asked. “My head.. it feels… clearer. Like my thoughts are less foggy, I can see them- AAAAAAAAGHHHHHH!!!” Haze started seizing and foaming at the mouth, then he stopped. “No!” Primalis said in frustration. “What did I do wrong!” He shouted. Caesar and Salizar both cried, Dr. Haze had been like a father to them. They could only wonder what had happened to Dr. Flight. The next day King Drake arrived, he walked in the facility slowly, droplets of rain falling from his armor. “King Drake? A-an unexpected surprise.. I assure you last nights setback was only a fluke, I’ve already concocted a-” “SILENCE! … she’s gone…” Drake said solemnly. Primalis took a step back, “my lord.. I apologize.. I-” “you failed me… you know what I do to failures.” “Sire, please. I beg of you!” Primalis pleaded. “Enough! The apes will be put down tomorrow. As for your fate. I’ll decide tomorrow.” Drake said. He walked out of the facility. Primalis fell back in his chair, he didn’t know what to do. He walked away to his quarters looking bewildered. “Finally getting what’s coming to him, good.” Salizar said. “But what about us?” Caesar said. “We have to escape.” Salizar said. “But we can’t! Drake will hunt us down!” Caesar said. “You heard him! He wants to put us down!” Salizar said, “I’m going wether you come or not!” He said. “I can’t.. I’m-” Caesar started. “Your what!” Salizar shouted. “I’m scared! Alright! I can’t do this.” Caesar said. “Weakling! You’d sit here and hope the humans would spare you instead of coming with me!” Salizar shouted. “Salizar.. I I just can’t.” Caesar said. “Fine! I’ll go without you!” Salizar said. That was the last time they spoke, until they met back there again.
