Chapter 20 ~taking to the skies~
The serpents decided to stay in the caves with their wounded leader so it was just nash and Skyla, which gave them the opportunity to fly high above the dangers of the jungle. “we have to get that herb, before it’s too late” Nahs said stating the obvious. “Problem is I don’t know where we are nothing looks familiar, so I guess we just keep going till we find a dinopithicus.” Skyla said. “Yea but where do we do that, maybe we could ask for directions.” Nash said. “NEVER ask for directions in the jungle, nobody can be trusted they’ll either kill you or steer you in the wrong direction just for fun.” Skyla said. “No species in the entire jungle can be trusted? Nobody? There’s gotta be someone.” Nash said. “Well.. I guess we could ask a quetzal, they are probably least likely to kill us being pacifists or whatever.” Skyla said. “Sounds good, where do we find a quetzal.” Nash said. “No idea, they’re all nomads, but being wimps in the jungle requires being in the sky and only sleeping in incredibly hidden places, so we need to find one before dark.” Skyla said. “Hmm, sounds like we should fly up and look around.” Nash said. They flew up higher and higher until they were just below the clouds, (this ark did in-fact have real clouds) they looked around them and saw nothing. “Where are they! You’d think it wouldn’t be hard to see a giant pterosaur..” Skyla said frustrated, Then Nash noticed a shadow going through a cloud in the distance, “wait look over there!” Nash exclaimed, they flew towards the shadow, flying closer and closer, Nash though he could make out the wingspan of a large pterosaur through the cloud but as they got closer (about 6-7 yards/meters) the shape distorted.. they could see now that the wings were not huge they were just moving really, really fast, they could also make out huge legs, and a small head then the creature made a sharp turn in their direction and flew at them so fast the clouds blew away from it, and they could clearly see.. a Rhyniognatha…
