The Hungry Dark- Chapter 2 By Swamp Guy

The bullet seemed to go in slow motion through the air. It whistled a violent tune as it neared its target.

Both Sean and Nightshade dodged. Nightshade ran at the attackers.

“Watch out, Rook!” The first man yelled, and as both men fled, the Mantis held up a shining claw to block the deadly jaws of the Deinonychus.

It was to no avail. Nightshade was too strong. She bit through the claw, and killed the Mantis almost instantly.

“I don’t have to say it, do I?” Sean smiled, and Nightshade ran off to deal with the attackers while Sean collected meat and chitin from the corpse.

“This place might not be so safe anymore.” Sean mused. “We might have to make a move.”

The first man had escaped. He made his way back to Darklords’s secret fortress, deep in a White Cliffs ravine where they were well hidden. Turrets would pick off any hostiles. You did not mess with Darklords and live.

“Well, someone did.” The first man said to the Grand Generals of Darklords. The first one, Nia, was a woman who favored Wyverns more than any creature, and had a secret fleet (this secret had become common knowledge.) The other, known simply as “Gramps,” was a keen old man know for building massive bronto siege machines.

“This “Sean” is disturbing.” Gramps mused, stroking his beard. “What tribe do you think he was from, Yulock?”

“The Blades of Courage, we believe, sir.” Yulock replied. “He had a very powerful Deinonychus named Nightshade. It killed Rook, our Mantis, and Commander Kalik.”

“A survivor from the Blades of Courage must be quite hardy.” Nia said. “We destroyed them nearly a year ago.”

“We shall tell Grandmaster this... interesting news.” Gramps said. “Good work, soldier. You have delivered vital information.”

Yulock saluted valiantly. “What is my next mission, Grand Generals?” He asked.

Nia was the first to reply. “Hunt down this ‘Sean’... and bring him to us.”
