Monarchy's Plight
Goon's Prologue
Heat. That was the first sensation that hit Goon after the flashing bright light disappeared. Hot air, rushing down his throat, suffocating him. Blazing sand scorched his feet, and his feathers, thick for fighting the cold, were only intensifying the violent rays of the sun overhead. He looked around frantically, searching for shade, water, something to cool him off. Through his hazy vision, the sandy landscape of the desert was interrupted by a white speck in the distance. Even with his warped sight, he knew snow like the feathers on his back.
Not thinking about anything but cool air, he took off. He had almost collapsed several times before he made it, and the entire time he felt like he was being watched. the instant has blistered feet touched down on the snow, Goon dropped in relief. He stood only when his vision returned, and he could hear clearly. Looking around, it looked just like the tundra he was used to. A flicker of movement out of the corner of his eye caught his attention. He looked down at the ground, seeing nothing. He was about to start heading off to find water when more movement caused him to look down again. His shadow was grinning at him.
