The Toxicant Trials- Chapter 8
The Arena Battle was going to be held off for a few days, after one of the prisoners let off a few tripwire narcotic traps for the guards to walk into. Meanwhile, Slav and the others were chained to a wall opposite from a very ugly man.
“Who are you?” Asked the ugly man.
So they recounted their story. After saying “And so we were locked up here to be thrown in an arena,” the man nodded.
“So what?” The man said, rolling his eyes. “I don’t want to hear some clearly made up story about some stupid crocodiles and humans. I want to hear stories about this guy’s quetz, that guy’s raptor, this guy’s Parasaur, et cetera.”
“What kind of ugly hater are you?” Kai asked in disgust.
“I am Hadir, devourer of imagination, killjoy supreme.”
“You actually sound proud about that.” Wheezed Haphis, who probably wasn’t going to survive much longer.
“Shut up.” He said, and then fell asleep.
“Nox. NOX!” Slav heard Pouncer’s voice as a whisper that night. Hadir was still sleeping peacefully.
“Can you get us out?” She whispered. Nox dug his jaws into the steel, and managed to break it. The kapro then broke the others free.
They snuck out into the arena, the only sound being a squawking pelagornis on top of a pillar.
“Intruders! INTRUDERS!” It yelled.
“Oh, crap.” Jenny said as guards suddenly surrounded them.
