The Final Feast

Chapter 15

One cracked her eyes open. Her ears were ringing and her nose was bleeding. Knidos picked her up. She looked around to see what had hit her. There was a large tail looming over her head, swinging back and forth wildly. Her view was obstructed by trees, so she climbed on a rock to get a better look. It was a bronto, fighting for its life against something One couldn't see. There was roar. One recognized it immediatly. The bronto fell and an allo jumped on its back, revealing itself. It was jet black, the shade of the trees making it nearly invisible under their canopy. It roared in victory and then looked down directly at One. She turned and ran, whistling for her wolves to do the same. The stomping behind her grew louder. She could feel the allo's hot breath on her neck as it snapped at her. It was right above her when it stopped suddenly. The sky grew dark and lud shrieking filled the air.

The MΓ‘ng NΓΉ hovered in front of the sun for a moment, then dove towards the group of creatures. One led her wolves under the cover of the trees and watched from a distance as the allo stood its ground. It roared at the onycs, refusing to move. They were on it in a second, tearing at its face. It didn't take the allo long to realize it was outmatched and ran back the way it came, the onycs right on it. The allo would have been doomed in a second if it hadn't run past the dead bronto. Immediatly the cloud targeted the large corpse, letting the allo escape. It stood back, watching the bats devour his hard work. They were done in mere moments, and after cleaning the bones from the ground, the ascended back into the sky and disappeared, flying back to whatever horrendous hole they had come from. One turned back around to see the allo charging at her. He was going to eat something, and if it wasn't a bronto, it would be her.
