The Final Feast

Chapter 9

"Hello, little one," the boa hissed with a grin. "Though you aren't very little anymore, are you?" Corvi said nothing. She was seething with anger and wanted nothing more than to attack, but she also had her human to think of. Corvi shipped her head around. Her human! The survivor was on the ground, groaning. She must have been thrown from Corvi's back during her dive. She carefully grabbed the collar of the human's armour and pulled her to her feet. At the sight of the boa, she grabbed her sword, but when it lifted up to its full height her face paled.

"You were just a little hatchling then," the boa hissed, circling around the human and Corvi. The argent stamped her foot. "You killed my brothers. You killed my father." The boa grinned, "How else could I make you the bird I knew you could be. Ruthlesss. Mercilesss. Courageousss. You'll need all of them for the fight to come. Without me you'd be soft and uselesss." Corvi launched herself at the boa, who quicly dropped to the ground, causing Corvi to hit a tree. Corvi stumbled back into the boa, who coiled around her, constricting hed movement. "Now, now," hissed the serpent, "Don't go losssing your head. There's a reason for thisss." Its calm tone became furious as it suddenly released its grip on Corvi, who quickly took the opportunity to break free. The boa turned around and looked down at the sword lodged in its side. It looked up at the survivor holding it. "Imbecile!" it hissed, launching itself at the human.
