The stam isnt terrible if you hold in turret mode, rapid clicking is what drains it quickly

If you use a snow owl to freeze it then while still mounted to keep it frozen surround it with wooden billboards so it can’t shoot you or get out

In my experience, they almost always spawn in pairs. Make sure you check the entire area if you think you're only fighting/taming one!

Never underestimate these bastards, I was trying to tame one of them and THEIR NEEDLES HAVE RANGE! I was on the other side of the lake in the desert biome and I was getting aim boted by thier needles. MAKE SURE TO HAVE SOME MED BREWS IF U TRY TO TAME ONE!

Get a platform saddle for a quetzal and put this thing on it you basically have a fighter jet

If u need 2 do lava cave suggest having a velo supper effective against it and u dont need rockets 2 kill boss

If you have a tanky large Dino with good health you can hide behind it so it gets shot and not you and easily shoot the velonasaur with tranqs

I just pick them up with a quez and drop them in a two by two trap. Never had them affect the quez but then I'm straight in and grab them.

To breed easily just plant both your parents in turret mode and set to wander, they'll spin on the spot and do the nasty

The developers made a very correct decision for this beast and made a not very large radius of its aggression. If he would have a higher target radius (like a raptor, for example), he will start shooting for the first step, and it will be very annoying for all players.

A Velonasaur with high melee and a lot of grapples is the by far best way to run the lava cave. Will only take you like 10 minutes.

If you agro it then try to kill it close range and DON’T try to run because it will go into turret stance and shot you down faster than you can say “run back!”

I found the best way to KO a Velona is by find a destructible rock, which they cant break, and climb to top of it, then just start the process, when it goes into turret mode you can just take a step or two back and it won't hit you but you can still see it and hit it. Once it runs follow and keep on shooting. This has worked for me on my entire Velona Army of 16 Velonas, now time for Breeding. I already got a 267 and 261 female and Male to breed together. Cant wait for an imprinted one. That can solo red drops

They only do around 10-20 damage per quill so if you have a tank mount (even an iguanodon with lots of health) you can let it Afro to it and let the mount tank as you tranq it. Very easy and you can tame it as soon as you get it’s saddle. Get up close and personal with it.

These should be your first tame since there saddle is unlocked at level 27 in extinction also they can shoot faster then an automatic turret also I've just read this they can block turret bullets so I hope they can damage tek turrets with there needles or out gun all turrets.
