Had my first velonasaur encounter today on fjordor- I didn’t even know what hit me but it banged up my maewing pretty bad

How to escape a Velonasaur:

1) run

2) run faster

3) run a lot faster

4) RUN LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT BECAUSE IT DOES ALL THE TIME

When near a Velonasaur it will shoot spikes out of it’s head. If you are on a flyer such as a Pteranodon it will make it dizzy and you will fly out of control.

People haven’t emphasized this enough, but these things do a LOT of damage in the wild too so you need to be really careful while trying to tame them. Specifically the R variant, which I have been taming on Fjordur can just shred through your tames and you. They can also shoot you while your on a mount.

Never underestimate these bastards, I was trying to tame one of them and THEIR NEEDLES HAVE RANGE! I was on the other side of the lake in the desert biome and I was getting aim boted by thier needles. MAKE SURE TO HAVE SOME MED BREWS IF U TRY TO TAME ONE!

If you going to try kill it don't approach it with a shield it will rip through it and kill you

In my experience, they almost always spawn in pairs. Make sure you check the entire area if you think you're only fighting/taming one!

The developers made a very correct decision for this beast and made a not very large radius of its aggression. If he would have a higher target radius (like a raptor, for example), he will start shooting for the first step, and it will be very annoying for all players.

If you agro it then try to kill it close range and DON’T try to run because it will go into turret stance and shot you down faster than you can say “run back!”

In pvp, you can use a sniper from long range to easily kill them. Though there damage is insane, there health is terrible, a total glass cannon. If you are in medium it close range you are dead.

They shoot quills and shred through armor

Very dangerous but worth taming

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THESE GUYS, they are able of dispatching your tamed velonasaur in seconds because unlike ridden velonasaurs. They can fire at a longer and more rapid rate. If your velonasaur is un-mounted, then it may very well be able to kill the wild velonasaur!

All I find on Gen2 is the normal varrient I’v only seen one r-Velonasaur
