Tips & Strategies

What are tips for velonasaur? Tips and strategies for velonasaur in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Easy to knockout with darts. avoid when it goes into turret mode, even a lvl 20 will melt your health. runs when close to knockout though so you may need to trap it using a quick wall if your worried about bigger predators. Starve taming this is so easy you don’t even need to waste the time making kibble. Use raw prime if your able to. These are organic turrets, meaning no bullets, they eat fish or meat when tamed. You only need to pump stats into Stamina and melee, they are a small creature so pumping health is only good if you mutate for health maybe. Good luck
All yu really need is a high health stego on passive get higher than the velonosaur then stand behind it and tranq it out
MAKE SURE YOU MUTATE THEM!!! The most useful pvp Dino in the game, I’ve killed gigas with nothing but a realy mutated velonosaur and came out with only half of my health gone. I mostly put health and stamina into it but always make sure you have good melee with it, the single best machine gun.
A really good method I used to tame a lvl 130 was to get my snow owl (anything will work as long as it has 3K health minimum), land it right next to the velonasaur, wait till it aggroed and jumped off, from there what happened was it was too close to my snow owl to use turret mode so it used the swipe which does pretty much no damage. When I started tranqing it it was focused on my snow owl and kept attack it until it started torpor running even though I was right next to it. Up if you find that this works because I’m not certain how reliable this is
These guys are really easy to tame now with the net gun. Just net them and box them in instead of trying to lure them into a trap. Once netted, they can't shoot.
When knocking out, engage at far range but close enough to keep it in turret mode. If its still in turret mode when it trys to flee, resulting in a snail like getaway. Allowing you to move in closer near the end.
U can make wood walls to lead it toa trap
If you have a large creature I used a reaper because reduced damage and stand on its back and shot it
upgrade a dodos hp a lot the have it shoot the dodo instead of you
Use a quetzal and pick it up and it won’t attack the quetzal but be careful when around other velanasours
These Dino's are really easy to tame.if your solo you can shoot it with tranqs, then run away, then rinse and repeat!if you have a Dino, use it to tank the hits from the Dino!if you have tribe mates, you can do the solo method or give a shield to your tribe mate to tank
Can’t be picked up be pteradons! Good way to tame is getting a trap 4 stone foundations 4 ramps 8 stone door frames and lure it in. They eat super fast and take little prime.
These things have a 1 meter Agro range but take a while to give up on attacking you. Usually spawns alone or in a pack of 2 or 3.
Their ranged attack is only effected by melee damage when ridden. If used as a turret (which is what these things are best at) then only do health and stamina. Even a freshly tamed 224 can handle blue and yellow drops alone.
Upgrade melee on your mount, the rest just do health and stamina. A ridden imprinted velo can do literal thousands of damage per second, and a decent turret can do it’s dps (shoots about five times a second I think, so 100?) for about thirty seconds.
If you don‘t be to close he wouldn‘t attack you.
You can easily tame one with a friend on a crystal wyvern, just pick the velo up and hover for someone to tranq it. You can also use a normal wyvern but crystal wyvern are easy to tame
