If you catch the fish then release it cryo the fish you can re catch it and use it when needed helps the stock up on higher fish up if helps wish I had seen this sooner

If you want to tame a shadowmane I would get fungal wood from the blue orb plants in the shadowmane area then make a trap. Four stone foundations two on both sides to make a square then two stone walls on all sides then ramps up then let it follow you on a flyer and then feed fish through the walls then you have a shadowmane.

If you’re ever taking him on gen 2 keep your tel shirt on, it might make him wake up a bit more but it’ll sure save you from it if it agros

Handy tip if you don’t want to carry around a bunch of Filled Fish Baskets: The captured fish can be released from the baskets in water and they become a tame, you can then Cryopod them and keep them in your inventory. When you’re ready to start taming you can release them from the Cryopod (in water far away from predators and the Shadowmane) and recapture them in a fresh basket.

I’m pretty sure that shadow manes are nocternol because while I was trying to tame a shadow mane it wouldn’t sleep and it was night and all it was doing was running after animals and fish hope this helped you :/

Check out the nooblets channel it tells you how to tame it really easily the only thing is that you need to unlock fishing baskets(obviously) and then just follow his steps and then boom you got a shadowname. He is a really good YouTuber finding the easiest way to tame dinos for example he tamed a lvl150 phinox in 2 minutes and this can happen for the lowere lvls so go check out his channel and tame the dinos you always wanted to, good luck.

In my opinion, trapping piranhas tame them easier. But are risky because you might die 😬but I mean I got a 104 shadow mane with only 2 fish traps with piranhas and I tried one without piranhas and it took me 3-4 😩. They are kinda tricky! Good luck! 👍

Aquatic speed is great.

Taming fairly basic, ghillie or slow and patient.

Find good clefts and areas, or maneuver into a pen/trap area. Like equus, you feed them the fish baskets.

For the basket, in engram list, top of list is highlighted island, deselect and your list should expand.

Fishbasket should be available to make and use the area in Midgard both blue forests have fish and mats for baskets, as well as the shadowmanes spawning, at NIGHT. They have a pack bonus, so you might need to clear the others or poke/aggro a good one, have a fast mount or flyer if possible.

GFI Structure_Fish 1 0 1 = fish basket blueprint though it might need some adjustments depending on servers and such

For those on fjordur, you Can transfer your character to Lost island, learn the fish basket engram, and transfer back to fjordur, you character will retain all the learned engrams

If you have one trapped and your solo...DON'T LEAVE RENDER DISTANCE

Fish baskets are best for taming. The bigger the better.

Small fish will not be accepted by the murder kitty

Only tameable during the day not at night, because it only sleeps during the day

If you drop hunt for good ghilli you can wear tek boots and chest plate so you can fly and ignore fall damage you can sneak up to the shadowmane and fly once you feed it.

If you aggro the taming meter resets to 0. Be careful not to make it angy.

No need for all the ghille armour. Use a 2x2x1 stone box, hover over it with your tek suit and let the shadowmane dash attack you and fall in the box. Derender to lose agro and boom. You can walk and run freely around it just dont jump above the edge of the box while near it. Hope this helps, dont lose braincells trying to chase it. Be smart about it.

Tbh the easiest way to tame this thing is no need tek jetpack no need ghillie you only need plenty of bed around it.

Just make 3x3 foundation and 5 wall height doesnt works with s+ tested and verified because ive spent 19 hrs for this thing use the vanilla wall and foundation (NO DOORS OK) FULLY WALL

Make a ramp and bait them into your trap and let them kill you in there if the thing keep aggro at wall you need to replace it with extra wall it will go away to other wall or stop aggro.

After the cat stop aggro onto wall or you you can fit the fish thru the wall just go near the wall and you might see its tail or feet you still can feed it.
