If you already have a quetzal and have a trap set up on it then I recommend looking around the lake in the middle of the redwoods, I usually find them there or in the area and you also could have a chance at an argy so win/win

ON XBOX/PS/PC:

WITHOUT ANOTHER QUETZAL:

Use a griffin or a tapejara to tame it. With a griffin, control it’s direction of movement and knock it out with tranq darts. With a tapejara, whistle attack target and whistle passive using the corresponding buttons.

WITH QUETZAL:

Build a large stone WALL container and fly in front of it head on. Make sure it gets trapped first, then close it off with walls. Knock it out.

ON MOBILE:

Use dodo arrows to shoot it and lead it into behemoth gates. Make large walls and ceilings to block it in. YOU CANNOT USE ANOTHER QUETZAL, the wild one will just glitch through it.

I looked for this for several hours at each obelisk and around mountains i finnaly found it near blue obelisk to tame solo i grappled my argy had it chase it then knocked out with shock darts just make sure your argy doesn't hit it

Basically any boss can get annihilated with this thing. Slap some turrets on a platform saddle, and ride into battle with a few bodyguards and distractions. Ur good.

(no tapejara!) what worked for me was to get a friend and a bird with high stamina, i used my argy, get potent and normal tranqs, i dangled my friend above it as he shot down at it. because the quetzal is so slow, it’s easy to keep up and above it, had it in about 5 minutes!

If your playing extinction you can use snow owl and go above a quetzal, do a freeze attack, it will fall and then trap it with gateways.

Tamed one up popped a platform saddle on it added some foundations and put some walls and some other stuff then bam portable base also add some turrets

Use honey to lure to the ground then place dino gates on top of it

If you need to grab a second quetzal for breeding and you already have one, I recommend using your first quetzal to chain bola the secons one and place stone gates on its neck, body, and legs. You can then proceed to tranq it no problem. Oh, and you might want to bring some spiked walls to keep the predators out.

For taking a quest first time, first game a low lvl so you can later catch a high 100+ quetz. First get a high level argentavis and get flak armor with water and food. Get 10 grapples and 10 parachutes, preload the crossbow with the grapple and add it to your inventory, also put the parachutes in your bar. If it’s a level 15 or so get 30-40 tranq darts or get 20 shocking tranq darts. Find the quetz and get near it in the air have your crossbow in your hand before you get on the argen, when you are near the quetz jump off your argen and equip the para, then immediately grapple argen. When you’ve done that, shoot a dart at the quetz then send your argen after it using the whistle, since quetz fly towards 50,50 you are near water, count how many times you hit it to make sure it doesn’t knock out over water, if it knocks out near 50,50 make sure you immediately put spike walls all the way around it. Once you’ve done that kill all creatures around, then give it prime and 200 narcotics. Cryo

The best way to tame a quetzal is that you shot from a griffon of the quetzal

My friend is a savage who sucks turrets with high health quetzal with legendary saddle and meat in its inventory. He flies over the enemy base and quetzal takes all the damage to it's belly.

Simply get a snow owl, find a quetz, once in a safe place, freeze it out of the sky,the quetz will walk for a few seconds.freeze again and place 4 dinosaur gates.

If you want to tame one set a tamed Tapejara to follow you but you have to be off your tame first then find change seats a quetzal set it to attack the quetzal and shoot some tranqs and you can set your Tapejara to follow you when you are of it and when you fly it it will stay in the air so it is a easy way to kill alpha’s.

These things spawn in abundance in Crystal Isles. If you're looking for a good one, I suggest you go there.

Best solo method that I've found, by far, is to use a Archaeopteryx with a Tapejara. Once you find a Quetz, jump off and switch to front passenger. Whistle attack while shooting tranqs, then whistle passive once you get too close. I bring Argies and set target and follow distance both to high, make them follow the Tapejara. When you eventually knock the Quetz, whistle the Argies to follow you to defend it wherever it lands. Make sure all the Argies are set to "Only attack conscious".

Any taming food or kibble I bring, I place in the Tapejara and have them set to passive when I land. Once you knock a Quetz out of the sky, you can use crouch to go straight down with the Tapejara so you don't lose where the Quetz lands.

Use tapejara not argy I used argy and I died so I made a vow never to play ark again

Knock out is too easy now that we have the net gun..

All you gotta do it bet it and shoot it’s eye wile it’s down it’ll do like 5-6x the amount of torpor then when it gets out of net just chase it for a bit and keep shooting till it knocks if your using a low tier weapon for tranqing you might need to net it again it used to be you had to chase em and try to bulls eye it’s eye to get the extra torpor but now the net gun makes it to easy you could also just trap it with some Dino gates and if you’ve got a tribe you could all shoot it wile it’s netted and knock it out real quick but careful not to shoot it once it’s out

Use a griffin and just keep pelting it with tranq darts. Once you're out of stamina, switch to the passenger seat (have the griffin on follow) and switch back to your main one once the stamina is full!

Theyre great Metal companions esspicialy in Brutal mode cuz when you knok a High level quetz youll get lots metal in easy mode theyre kinda useless cuz of theyre low level and weight (also btw dont put storage boxes in its back and fill it with metal the quetzal will notice the metal in the storage boxes)
