Encountering Tips
How do I kill a quetzal? quetzal battling strategies in ARK: Survival Evolved.
DO NOT CRYOPOD IT WITH A PLATFORM SADDLE IT DESTROYS YOUR WHOLE BASE AND ALL YOU WORK
Quetz usually spawn at red obelisk, if you don't see one wait a few minutes for t to spawn. If you are looking for a high level kill the lower level one so it another can respawn
I have been looking one for days and when I go to the red obby I find 2 in less then 10 mins so go there and up this
Where these bois spawn
1) The Red Obelisk and to the left near that Island 🟥
2) The Green Obelisk and near the herbivore Island area🟩
3) Sometimes the snow mountains 🏔
NOTE: The red Obelisk is where you will most 😀

My base is literally built on red obelisik but I haven't even encountered one :(
I found one. I wasn’t prepared.
Up for me to tame one soon!
I dared follow it and waited for it to come down and rest. Unfortunately, quetzals seem to fly forever. So guys, whoever is thinking of doing the same thing, don't. You'll just waste your time.
So... I figured out the exact spots for the spawns 👍 The primary spot is just behind the red obelisk on the thin little strip of land near the southern island. (I almost always see one spawn there) I also find them frequently spawning around the “back spike” of the red obelisk. You will almost always find a quetz around these two places. (At least on mobile) If you want a high level, just kill the one that spawns at these two places and a new one will always respawn back at those two places. This technique worked for me.
The devs need to fix the glitch of it going towards the redwood for those who don’t know there is this glitch were normally if you try and tame or kill the quetzal it will obviously fly away as they are more flight than fight and they would just fly in any direction right? Well no with this glitch they go towards the redwoods and STAY in the redwoods plus by the time you reach the redwoods it would go unconscious which is obviously very bad because I had tried to tame 2 but they both kept go towards the redwoods one fell in water but got killed before I had even registered and the other on went on land but also got killed and now I’m trying to find another one wish me luck!
For 'The Center' map the common spawn locations tend to be near any obelisk, as well as around 55,45 or cruising around the entirety of Jungle South. It's worth checking around lava island too.
I decided to do the strat where i grapel to my argentavis and make him aggro to the quetzal. I damn near hit the quetzal 100 times with darts and it wont get knocked out (lvl 95 qtz). SOMEONE PLZ HELPP
Low levels seem to spawn neared red obbi on the island. If you're looking for one, head over there
I love seeing these giants birds flying past us
There is usually at least one quetz roaming around the red obelisk and craggs Island. Go over there and kill any and all quetzals that aren't of your liking, and then fly to above the nearby swamp or The end of the red lake (or further). Then fly back and be sure to check above the beach area between craggs and the obelisk which is separated to craggs by a thin water path. If no quetzal has spawned there then look around and west of the obelisk. If no quetzal has been found in either area then try flying further away or waiting 10 sec before going back. This method works especially well on evolution event which is when I've mostly tried it. Good luck!
Decent chance for a Tek variant to spawn near the red obelisk, albeit a low level, still useful nonetheless
Went on Ragnarok to find a griffin. Instead saw a 180 tek quetzal. Long story short I now have a max level quetzal named Doom.
Quetzals spawn at the obelisks often, same goes with the red woods
Qetals are ALIENS! creatures. They are very rare, but the main thing is that they never go down, unless you made one unconces. They even spawn on the air, but how do they grow up and be not hungry, thirsty, but healthy. If they can survive up there they arn't normal creatures. They have to be a different complex organisms. UP for more documentaries.
Is it just me who is really unlucky finding any quetzals
Searched the entire map 4 times over and still no quetzal
If you tame this cooked fish meat your a god and deserve a medal
