Found mine (level 45) at lat 42.7 long 65.8

Spent two (irl) days looking for one on my Singleplayer Island game, was about to throw in the towel and spawn in a wild one to tame then BAM, I got the dopamine hit I was waiting for when I saw that big mother flapping about. Landed my tapejara, loaded up the longneck with darts and set my Tappy to follow and attack, after a length chase shooting darts from the passenger seat brought him down near the swamps, west coast. Solo tame. Finally!!!!!

A cool battle :

First tame : quetzal with platform saddle that has c4 dodos on it and turrets mounted by 2 people. One for riding, over for throwing dodo bombs and making sure to restalk the turret ammo

Second tame(s) 2 high lvl yutys with good Stam and hp.

1 yuty is for the buffing the dinos while the other yuty is for scaring the enemy dinos away. (Make sure mate boosted)

Third tame : (s) 6 allos 3 raptors and 6 carnos for charging the main attack. Make sure to get them buffed by yutys and always have them mate boosted.

4th tame : (s) 10 dimorphs for support with quetzal and charging attack. (Mate boosted)

5th tame : (s)2 rythniognathas for taking the vaults and support with resin attacks.

Final tame : 1 high lvl diplo with all stats to hp tanking all of the turrets.

Setting : a hill with a base on top of it.

Description : diplo charges in first tanking the turrets while allos carnos and raptors come with the 2 yutys. Enemy sends in the dimorpths to deal with the charge attack but the 2nd yuty scares them away. Quetzal comes in hovering over the base while the remaining enemy dimorths come in to attack quetzal but are dimorphs easily take them down while the quetzal drop the c4 dodos doing massive damage to the roof which makes the rhynios come. Allos carnos and raptors have done most damage to the defenses of the base and diplo is picked up by the 1st ryhnio and put it away while the 2nd rthynio takes down the last 2 turrets with the 1 t Rex charging in from the enemy base so rthynio picks t rex up and flys him to base. Both rthynios come back and start raiding the loot by picking up the vaults to send back the loot to base. Mean while the enemy base sends back ups ( 2 trex and some dimporths) to try to recover there base but are charging attackers easily kill them. The entire base is looted and destroyed by your charging attack. So yea (epic)

Get a revival platform with a big enclosure around it, and then kill a lower level for its implant, and then revive it in the enclosure and tame it. You might have to save up a few amber(this is mobile I’m talking about), but that’s fine. If it’s available, do the tame quetzal pursuit and target your quetz, and it won’t be a low level anymore.😉

Have fun not sleeping because breeding takes so long

The quetzal cannot carry allosaurus in ark mobile (old version). I tested it and the largest thing it can carry was a therizinosaurus (tickle chicken)

This is for a quick and kind of ez tame for mobile players (i recommend longneck with darts)

1st step Tame a Tapejara (i recommend to level it up first and put some speed)

2nd step look for a quetzal (bring soothing balm and rex kibble for easier tame)

3rd step after u found a quetz, save your game in one of the save slots (mobile only i think)

4th step whistle the tapejara to attack & change to the passenger seat

5th step tame

(Bring some prime if your taming a highlevel or more kibble)

(MOBILE) My way how I tamed a quetzal is:

I found a quetzal arround the green obelisk

Then I killed it with my argy (don't harvest quetzal)

Then took his implant from him

Placed revival platform and built thatch things arround, so he cant escape

Then I knocked with tranq.

You can bring ur friend so he can help u tame it, with Tapejara, Argentavis, Pteranodon,

With Tapejara, ur friend controls Tapejara and you sit on the back and knock out the quetzal

With Argentavis, your friend picks you up with Argentavis and then he flies to Quetzal and you try to knock it

With Pteranodon, same like with Argentavis

To the mobile player who can’t request or unclaim their missing Quetz, sorry. You can’t do anything, you have to wait until they eventually starve to death, as you cannot request them so if they had plenty of food in their inventory, you’ll have to wait an extremely long time for that tame slot to be free. Sorry man, hope this isn’t too bad for you.

Upgrade health maybe 2 or 3 times, then soam levels in weight and stam because you can just go into air, stop sprinting, stop moving and sit up there for days on pvp servers and if ur high enough your safe

Or mosa and go deep underwater

They are usually around red woods and swamp also I would recommend using tranq arrows or darts mostly arrows cause damage in the arrows upgrade the torpor

My way that i am willing to do to Tame these guys is to kill it, revive it with a revival platform and tranq it 😊

Is it a possibility to take an egg and have one Aggro on you, or is that too dangerous?

The best thing to do is 1. Get a arge, 2. Fill it up with stone or another heavy thing, until its ALMOST over-encumbered (aka so its slower when you grapple but not to slow. Now grapple onto that sucka and whistle attack target. Happy taming :)

With the rhynio now in ark ascended, the pretzel is way easier to tame. You can shoot off of the back of the rhynio so once you find the quetzal you can tranq it and lead it where you want it to go.

Once you knock it out it’s a simple tame

Want to tame one of these? Well, you came to the right place! These guys are pretty hard to tame. (Took me a month to find one) Here is a guild on how to tame one:

What You need to pack:

50 tranq arrows or 30-40 tranq darts

1crossbow or 2 crossbows or 1-2 Longneck rifles

50 raw prime meat or more

200 raw meat

500 narcotics just in case

Grappling hooks

What tames you might need:

Tapejara with its saddle ( 3 seater)

Argy with its saddle

Way number 1 ( I did it this way)

Hop on your argy and look for a quetzal (They usually spawn around the red obelisk near some islands)

Since Quetzals never land, look in the air for one.

Once you found one, Jump from your argy and grapple it. You may want to practice before you try to tame the quetzal. Whistle attack on the quetzal and hit it with tranq ammo. Feed it meat and there you go!

Way 2

To make this way short, do the same this as with the argy but use a tapejara and sit on the extra seats. Tranq it and feed it meat!

Wild quetzals need to have a look at trees and land dinos, not just clouds and other birds

Position them so that their wings go through each other and they wont move away from one another during breeding. Learned this a few months ago.

The best way to knock it out is too ride a griffin and take out your Tranq gun and shoot it in the head.

Tame locations tend to be near green ob. I did find 3 out by coordinates 43, 54. River near volcano and redwood forest.
