Endgame- Chapter Two

“Alpha Rex!” Jenny yelled from her position as scout. It was late at night, but the campground was wide awake within seconds.

“Do you think it can get up here?” Slav mumbled.

“Maybe,” Jenny said, “But it looks like it might fall.”

They sat in silence and waited. Slav patted Parker, and the kapros were more tense than ever.

“It fell!” Jenny yelled, and a huge cheer went up from the campground.

“Quiet, fools!” Whispered one of the redwood tribes’s Chief Council members. “We want to keep our position secret!”

The next day, Kai, Nox, Slav and Jenny went out to get more tames. Nox had become known in some wild areas as a “Master Negotiator,” and so he was brought along to convince the creatures that they should be tamed.

“Let’s go to the tundra.” Kai said, breaking the silence as they rode on Sunny, pretty much their only big tame left. “We can get Rexes, Yutys, and Daeodons.”

“Sure,” Slav retorted, “But we have to go to the redwoods first! Thylas would be an incredible asset in this war!”

“Then you go!” Kai snapped. “I am not going back there!”

“Kai, please-“ Jenny and Nox both tried to say, but Kai held up his hand, covered in a fur glove. They rode on like that until they came to the snow.

“Grab a good-looking Yuty.” Kai instructed Sunny, and she swooped down and picked one up.

“Hey, Mr. Yuty!” Nox yelled. “Remember that Haphis guy who built a tribe on your territory?!”

“How could I forget?” The Yuty snarled. “His Woolly Rhino killed my carnos!”

“Oof, that sucks!” Nox yelled. “Hey, would you like to join the fight against him?”

They got a Yuty. It went on like this for a while, until they had Rexes, Yutys, Daeodons, Mammoths...

Back at base, Chiron and the others congratulated them for everything they got.

“There’s just one problem.” Chiron said. “Haphis knows we’re here.”
