Origins: Prologue: The Chimera of The Wasteland

The Manticore stood just before John, Helena, Edmund, and Mei-Yin. It summoned golems across its deserted arena and charged. Mei-Yin was able to dodge and managed to stab its leg. The Chimera howled and slashed at her. John was able to deflect the blow with his sword and cut a boulder from a golem in half. Helena was working on her implants that would allow them to respawn, while Edmund screamed in terror as he was batted around like a toy. John charged at the Manticore and jumped up to stab it in the heart. It batted him away, however. He got up and successfully jabbed his saber into the soulless depths of the Chimera's heart. He was transported to a world in the process of turning into energy.
