Riddles of the Phoenixes series

Through the eyes of the Dark phoenixes.

Chapter nine: Not a king.

“It is well with my soul. It is well. With my soul. It is well. With my soul. It is well. It is well it is well with my soul.” A woman’s voice echoed through Jack’s head and he sat up, breathing heavily. Jack shook with sadness that suddenly came crashing down on him. He inhaled deeply, trying to breath steadily. Where was he? Jack panicking for a second, checked to see if his medallion was still there. It was. “Oh thank goodness.” Jack muttered. He and his siblings had promised to keep their medallions on forever and Jack intended to do so. His chest was healed. Where was he? Just then a door in the corner of the room opened and someone entered. The woman who he saw before he blacked out. Along side her two large black and white striped sabertooth tigers walked. She smiled shyly at him. She was wearing a dark maroon dress now. “Hi. Are you feeling better?” She asked. Jack nodded slowly. “Yes. What happened? Where am I? And who are you? And…why are there to two tigers beside you?” Jack blurted out. The woman laughed. “So many questions. I’m Cyra. You are at the Dark phoenix kingdom. I found you injured and me and my brother Cyrus brought you here. This two tigers are my pets. The girl is Sabine and the boy is Saber. They’re pretty gentle…to me.” Cyra informed him. One of the tigers, Saber looked at Jack and ran his long tongue over his fangs. Jack gulped. “If you don’t mind me asking you, your majesty, what is you’re name?” Cyra asked. Jack blinked. “Your majesty? I’m no king. I’m Ja-ck,Jack, just Jack.” Jack said. Cyra gave him a pitying look. “Ok…” The door in the corner of the room opened and a man with dark blonde slicked back greasy hair and dark green eyes walked in. He shot Jack a distrustful look. “This is my brother Cyrus. Cyrus this is Jack.” Cyra told her brother. Cyrus nodded and studied Jack silently, with narrowed eyes. “Cyrus, would you mind getting Nora and Wil-I mean the king and queen?” Cyra asked. Cyrus left the room quickly. When he came back he was followed by Nora and William. Jack began to panic and kicked the blanket off him and jumped from the bed. A sudden wave of dizziness overcame him but he managed to stumble away from Cyra, Cyrus, and the “king and queen”. He leaned against the window. “Where are you going?” William asked. Jack swallowed, trying not to vomit. “I’m- le-leaving. Y’all are-are all-all-all l-lunatics.” Jack said. Nora and William exchanged looks. “You can’t go. You’re in danger if you’re not in you kingdom… your highness.” Cyra said. Jack swallowed hard. “I’m not-not- not a -k-k-k-k-king.” Jack sputtered. Nora cast a worried look at him. “He can’t go. He’s injured and won’t survive long on his own. He hasn’t recovered completely. Get him. Gently. ” Nora said. A slow smile leaked on to Cyrus’ face. “With pleasure.” Jack rammed his elbow into the window as hard as he could, he felt weak, and it shattered. He tried to jump out but Cyrus grabbed him from behind. Jack struggled as hard as he could, stomping, kicking, screaming but Cyrus didn’t budge. “Leave-me-me-me alone!!!!!S-so-so- what if I-I d-die?! I d-deserve it-it it-it!! It’s all my-my my f-fault their gone!” Jack screamed. Cyrus didn’t let him go. Jack screamed until his voice grew hoarse. Then Jack was too weak to resist anymore so he hung his head tiredly. “You need to calm down, young man.” William told Jack. Jack tried to respond but a lump was in his throat. Jack swallowed but it was to late. His chest heaved hard and he vomited on Cyrus. Cyrus immediately released Jack. “Ugh!” Cyrus exclaimed angrily. (Cyrus is a very cleanly person) Jack collapsed to the floor and threw up even more. It was like burning acid. Black clouds began to surround his vision. “Let-let-me-me g-go.”Jack moaned in pain. “Help him!” Someone cried. “L-l-l-l-leave me- me-me-me alone.” Jack groaned. “It’s okay. We have you.” Someone said. Jack blinked and stared at the floor, tears began to drip from his face. Josephina and Jaquin’s terrified little faces flashed in his face. If only he had been hit by the bomb. Not them. He didn’t deserve to be alive. “Let-let-let- let me-go-go-go.” Jack whimpered. “It’s all my-my-my-my f-f-f-f-ault their g-g-gone. All my f-fault. Let me-me-me die.” And then Jack’s head hit the cold floor and he blacked out again.
