Ferra’s Dream

Chapter 29

She shifted her gaze to the battle. Two men lay on the ground, it was impossible to tell from here if they were dead or unconscious. A yuty roared from somewhere amidst the battle. One of the Rex’s with a rider was steered away until it stood directly facing the megapithicus’s back. The rex bent its head down, and its rider directed it to ram its head into the megapithicus’s back. This knocked the megapithecus into the other rexs. One of the rexs quickly clasped the megapithicus’s throat in its jaws. The megapithecus struggled as it weakly tried to pull the jaws off its neck. Alas, the rex bit down harder, killing the megapithecus. The rex let go, its jaws dripping with blood. The megapithicus’s lifeless body fell to the ground. Haroh laughed, the megapithecus had been slain at his army's hand.

Racheal pulled on her yutys reigns and calmly walked it over to one of the unconscious men who lay silently on the ground. By now, the gigantopithecus had seemingly disappeared and it was safe for her to dismount. She got off the yuty and walked towards the man who was only a few steps away. She turned over his wrist to see his implant. The small blue diamond no longer glowed blue. It now was gray and dim, signifying that this man was dead.

The rest of the group had walked off by now, in search of the broodmother, but one man and the rex he’d been riding had stayed behind. The man crouched down next to the other limp soldier, checking if he was dead or not. The man looked down at the soldier's wrist. The Implant dimly glowed. Racheal walked over to him. “What are you gonna do with him?” She asked. He huffed, “I’ll try and wake him up, if that doesn’t work, I’ll put him on my mount with me, but there’s no guarantee that he won’t fall off and get killed.” He suddenly slapped the unconscious soldier. The soldier sat up with a start before falling back with a groan. The soldier clutched his chest “I think I broke some ribs…” he muttered. Racheal looked at him, “Doesn’t matter, you can still ride a Rex.” She paused for a moment “Unless you want to end up like him. She briefly tilted her head toward the mutilated corpse of what once was a man, ripped apart by gigantopithecus. The soldier shivered, and quickly shoved himself up, still gripping his chest. He stumbled off in the direction the others had gone. The other man climbed back on his mount and followed. After a moment of thought, she climbed onto Fortis’ back.

Fortis ran to catch up with the others, Racheal sat on the saddle guiding him along with the reins. They slowed only when the group came into sight. They were already fighting the broodmother. Green goop-like blood covered the ground. The large arachnid hissed viciously, but no one was intimidated. After one last final hit, the broodmother crippled to the ground, easily defeated by the horde of rexes who had barely suffered a scratch. The broodmother was definitely a lot weaker than the megapithecus.

All the men cheered, happy to still be alive. Racheal steered Fortis to the edge of the land they stood on. She leaned over, sitting on the edge of the saddle, she looked over at the islands below her. She gazed in awe, as she stared down at the place she currently called home. A bright light suddenly disturbed her view. She tried to look away, but it surrounded her. She couldn’t see anything through the bright blinding light. The light was the last thing she saw

Ferra blinked. She did it know where she was, or who she was. A red ravager barked at her. She didn’t listen. She was surrounded by humans, animals too. There was a thyla standing next to the ravager, it’s fur bristling. On the other side of her, was a black direwolf who bared its teeth with no apparent fear. She blinked, and suddenly a fight had broken out.

I really hope y’all enjoyed this one, although I think the next one will be even better.
