Taming & KO Tips
How do I tame a dinopithecus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a dinopithecus.
I’ve read from a couple sources that once you feed the monkey, sometimes it takes up to like 10 minutes before you can feed the second piece so don’t give up guys
How to tame: Step 1: Bring a strong Dino such as a tough spino or even Rex/paracer (bronto is to big it might destroy your trap).
Step 2: build a good sized trap made out of stone ( it breaks wood and fits through normal Dino gateway)
Step 3: set your strong Dino on passive, shoot the alpha with bow or gun, lure it into the trap (its fast).
Step 4: hop on your strong Dino ( I suggest a good spino or Rex, ferox might work to in big form) and kill all the baboons except the alpha without destroying your trap.
Step 5: look through a window or something in the trap, and just get away a bit and when the alpha has calmed down just passive tame it, I suggest prime meat or mejoberrys, but normal meat works to.
Step 6: have fun with your new op giant baboon!
I hope this tip was helpful, have a good day/night!
Only that alpha can be tamed. If you do kill the alpha, the next lowest level will not become the next alpha. Babies can not be tamed, even when all the adults of their troop have been killed. Babies don't count when you're killing to scare the alpha!
I only saw kibble, crops and berries listed as taming food but I tamed mine with raw meat. When I found it, it was alone stuck between some trees so I seized the opportunity. I went up to it, and it said it’s health had to be below 85%. It was a low level, below level 100. I hit it with a few arrows from my crossbow and it said it was ready to passive tame. I put raw meat on my end quick-slot and it was tamed in 2 bites with the 3x event rates.
This is the least passive, passive tame.
find an Alpha monkey (has a red aura around it) kill all other monkeys around it preferably with shotgun even the BABIES and then attack the alpha until he’s below 85% health and starts walking around. then feed it raw mutton or meat, if you don’t know how to passive tame, put the food in your last slot and walk up to the dino and press e. follow and protect him until he is tamed.
make sure to give him a helmet and put a good skin on it, i use the rex bone skin i got from an alpha raptor
These guys have great stats and are definitely worth getting, I am playing on Val to do this so it must be a bug that they are there but I say get them while u can, especially a breeding pair so that once the creators remove them( or maybe the won’t 🤔) u can have as many as u want.
Incredible easy if you have a wyvern. Just kill the betas and beat it until it stopps attacking you. Pick it up to a save space (built myself two traps in a peaceful spot next to redwood cause I’m taming a lot of these guys for mutated army) and feed it.
I’ve tried to tame 2 of these but there food never goes down when passive taming. As soon as I passive feed it once it never lets me feed it again. Any tips
They spawn in the redwoods on valguero
Kill its family, beat it until it is below 15% health, then feed it. You must do this to the alpha also. It should have an orange-red aura around its body.

The lower you get the alphas health before feeding for the first time the quicker he will want to be fed. Equal faster taming time.
This has to be tamed none-violently like the arthropluera🪱 in ark but kill the alpha’s family and he will be nice as a fish and tame the alpha and you have your only climber in ark!

Dinopithecus: and I took that personally
As others said passive tame. You have to kill at least 1 other Dinopithecus near the alpha. Then lower the alphas HP to really low. Tips say use berries but I have been using prime meat to passive tame. No saddle needed and these guys can climb better than a thyla. Also hardly takes any fall damage.
These things are harder then they look to tame. You have to find a good level, then kill all the rest of them in the pack except the one you want to tame. After you need to hurt it until it is at I think 10% health. Once it is it will become passive. Put your taming food in your last item slot, and passive tame it. Congratulations you just got a baboon that throws grenadines and poop.
The first feed takes forever so be patient. These things are awesome to get around on and nothing Aggros to them. Take a decent tame to the redwood and you can damage it with that so you don’t need to waste bullets
One tip is these spawn on valguero due to the new update as well as sinomacrops and rarely maewing
To easily tame gt a good pt and find a ground of monkee, kill everything but the alpha which has an orange glow around it. Them go right up to the monkee once on its own or with its children and passive tame it with berries or meat. There is no saddle
I have a level 130 dinopithecus… and it has 16000 hp, 3192 stamina, and it dose like 2000 damage! Plus, it dose double that when doing a ground pound! it can through POOP witch slows your attacker down, though it’s a bit tedious to tame. But overall, it’s a great Dino!
Don’t need to kill the entire pack, just trap two and kill the lower level one, then passive tame with meat. Make sure no higher level one is around.
