Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a dinopithecus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a dinopithecus.
You need to kill all but the alpha (since it would be the highest level). Upon doing so it will be passive towards you and your tame. You can hop off then feed it meat. Not sure what kibble it uses. An awesome tame comes out around 5k health and 3k stam in 150s from what I’ve seen and scales cliffs and structures extremely quickly. One of the most entertaining dinos I’ve used in a long while
You can only tame the alpha monkey, the one that has the glow. You will have to kill the entire pack EXCEPT the alpha. You'll want to get it below 85% of its health. When you have done that you passive tame it with its preferred food, like exceptional kibble. I'd guess it eats meat too. Hope it helps!
I don’t know if this is intentional, but these guys also spawn on Valguero. I play on an official server, and the redwoods are packed with these guys.
Its a kind of passive tame
You can only tame the alpha from the group but first u have to kill the others to gain its trust than u have tu get below 85% health than you can passive tame it with mutton prime
Ok, so y'all are saying it will be half the hight of a human......
How do you expect to ride it! For example the giga is barely bigger than a rex in real life but in ark it's twice the size. Which isn't a bad thing but with ARK it's go big or go home expect something the size of the eques if not bigger because how are you going to ride something that only comes to your waste. In other words
BE AFRAID OF DA MONKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We aren't a colt......
Yet.......
Thanks for reading.
They can be found In the redwoods on the lost island map.
Taming is easy just
1. find a group.
2. Kill all but one (preferably the alpha since it’s the highest level)
3. Injure the last one to about 80% hp or once it starts to bleed a bit.
4. Once all the requirements are met it’s just a easy passive tame it’s omnivorous so it will eat meat or plants.
Happy taming
Will da monke be skinny King Kong?
This is a passive tame, according to updated ark news . In order to tame you must allow it to chase you for 30 seconds and then throw honey. It will then stop and take (3 mins) to sit down and eat. During that time you tame like you would a Gacha. Throw tools and weapons for it to study and taming will begin.
Big monkey better know as Rafiki
Can be found in Valguero redwoods!
Here's what you need.
A few grapples and crossbow
A gun
A lot of ammo for gun of your choosing
And I recommend a dino or pike.
Grapple to a tree, shoot all the baboons that don't have the red glow INCLUDING baby's. After they are dead, start shooting the alpha baboon until it's under 85% heath. You will know it's ready to tame when it just walks around. Put taming food of your choice in lost slot of your hot bar, then follow it around and tame.
Make sure to kill the babies around it because if a baby gets on it’s back it’ll bug out and the food won’t go down. Make sure people see this
To tame it you first need to kill the alpha's entire family and then beat it until you assert dominance and then just forcibly shove food into him until it gets Stockholm Syndrome and becomes your best friend
I tamed a 135 using a net gun and dino gates. Netted it up near a wall, then placed 2 dino gates in a very acute triangle shape (almost totally parallel) to keep it from running around the redwoods while feeding… climbed right out of the top gap of the gates. I think it would work 3 or 4 gates closer together to keep it safer while feeding. Definitely recommend the net gun though. Was very easy to kill the non-alphas while the alpha was safely netted.
I only saw kibble, crops and berries listed as taming food but I tamed mine with raw meat. When I found it, it was alone stuck between some trees so I seized the opportunity. I went up to it, and it said it’s health had to be below 85%. It was a low level, below level 100. I hit it with a few arrows from my crossbow and it said it was ready to passive tame. I put raw meat on my end quick-slot and it was tamed in 2 bites with the 3x event rates.
These guys have great stats and are definitely worth getting, I am playing on Val to do this so it must be a bug that they are there but I say get them while u can, especially a breeding pair so that once the creators remove them( or maybe the won’t 🤔) u can have as many as u want.
Incredible easy if you have a wyvern. Just kill the betas and beat it until it stopps attacking you. Pick it up to a save space (built myself two traps in a peaceful spot next to redwood cause I’m taming a lot of these guys for mutated army) and feed it.
Only that alpha can be tamed. If you do kill the alpha, the next lowest level will not become the next alpha. Babies can not be tamed, even when all the adults of their troop have been killed. Babies don't count when you're killing to scare the alpha!
They should be omnivores and get a pack buff like raptors dire wolves
The lower you get the alphas health before feeding for the first time the quicker he will want to be fed. Equal faster taming time.
