Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a dinopithecus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a dinopithecus.
This is the least passive, passive tame.
find an Alpha monkey (has a red aura around it) kill all other monkeys around it preferably with shotgun even the BABIES and then attack the alpha until he’s below 85% health and starts walking around. then feed it raw mutton or meat, if you don’t know how to passive tame, put the food in your last slot and walk up to the dino and press e. follow and protect him until he is tamed.
make sure to give him a helmet and put a good skin on it, i use the rex bone skin i got from an alpha raptor
Only that alpha can be tamed. If you do kill the alpha, the next lowest level will not become the next alpha. Babies can not be tamed, even when all the adults of their troop have been killed. Babies don't count when you're killing to scare the alpha!
I only saw kibble, crops and berries listed as taming food but I tamed mine with raw meat. When I found it, it was alone stuck between some trees so I seized the opportunity. I went up to it, and it said it’s health had to be below 85%. It was a low level, below level 100. I hit it with a few arrows from my crossbow and it said it was ready to passive tame. I put raw meat on my end quick-slot and it was tamed in 2 bites with the 3x event rates.
They spawn in the redwoods on valguero
To tame one Of these guys You must kill two or three betas And then you feed it, the meat or berries
These guys have great stats and are definitely worth getting, I am playing on Val to do this so it must be a bug that they are there but I say get them while u can, especially a breeding pair so that once the creators remove them( or maybe the won’t 🤔) u can have as many as u want.
Incredible easy if you have a wyvern. Just kill the betas and beat it until it stopps attacking you. Pick it up to a save space (built myself two traps in a peaceful spot next to redwood cause I’m taming a lot of these guys for mutated army) and feed it.
These things are harder then they look to tame. You have to find a good level, then kill all the rest of them in the pack except the one you want to tame. After you need to hurt it until it is at I think 10% health. Once it is it will become passive. Put your taming food in your last item slot, and passive tame it. Congratulations you just got a baboon that throws grenadines and poop.
The first feed takes forever so be patient. These things are awesome to get around on and nothing Aggros to them. Take a decent tame to the redwood and you can damage it with that so you don’t need to waste bullets
One tip is these spawn on valguero due to the new update as well as sinomacrops and rarely maewing
Me with tek rifle:
Dinopithecus: and I took that personally
mistakes I fell for :
sometimes members of a pack are left behind, meaning that when you kill off the pack you can see, so you will have to bring over more dinops, let them socialise for a bit and join the alpha's pack before killing them.
once you are at the feeding stage, the first bit of food will take ages, just use the tame tracker and afk or work on something nearby. after that, they feed pretty fast, so maybe use the first bit to gather food (I recommend prime meat)
This has to be tamed none-violently like the arthropluera🪱 in ark but kill the alpha’s family and he will be nice as a fish and tame the alpha and you have your only climber in ark!
Don’t need to kill the entire pack, just trap two and kill the lower level one, then passive tame with meat. Make sure no higher level one is around.
You have to kill all the others in order to tame the alpha including the babies
Don’t be fooled. They can be carried by wyverns. They haven’t updated its data since it is a new dinosaur.
The lower you get the alphas health before feeding for the first time the quicker he will want to be fed. Equal faster taming time.
I'm unsure if this has be changed recently but I only had to kill two in its pack, i didn't need to attack him directly, the alpha was then easy to tame with exceptional kibble, i DID NOT need to drop his health below 80 percent!
As others said passive tame. You have to kill at least 1 other Dinopithecus near the alpha. Then lower the alphas HP to really low. Tips say use berries but I have been using prime meat to passive tame. No saddle needed and these guys can climb better than a thyla. Also hardly takes any fall damage.
USE THE CAPTAIN FAT DOG TRAP! MAKES TAMING SOO EASY
