The promised land chapter 8: James POV

James stumbled through the brush. The jungle was thick but he was on a mission. He had to find a good mount. He had to focus really hard to keep his thoughts from drifting back to his home. He decided to rest he thought about the day he left. He had told Amy “If Nic does anything to you or my home. Put him in handcuffs knock him out and lock him in a room.” James could tell Nic thought he was there to guard James’s home and kill Amy if necessary. But that wasn’t the real reason. The real reason was because he had been too much of a threat to bring along. The way he bonded with dinos it was good too good. The pegomanstax didn’t even steal from him it simply curled up on his Boulder and took a nap. If Nic could learn to control this he would be too powerful Amy’s job was to distract him with combat to prevent him from learning about this or trying to improve his skill.

James’s thoughts drifted back to his home. He remembered all the sleepless nights, all the lost dinos, all the bloodshed, all the war, he remembered it all. He curled into a ball and began rocking himself softly. Was he going mad? Who would know he doesn’t even know himself? He had only eaten mind wipe tonic once, but that was years ago how had it maintained its effects for so long? His mother had left the purple gooey substance out one time and it was only because his father had an emergency. A trike had impaled him. His mother, being the village nurse, ran to help him and James, a confused toddler, shoved the gooey substance down his throat. The next eight days were torture immense pain, insanity, medical brews, and way too many energy brews. James had slowly began to drift back to reality the images flashing in his head began flashing slower. They began to fade and the forest came back into view.

James decided he would try to forget what just happened. He continued on. He crept slowly through the forest. He came across a herd of ankylosaurus. They smashed rocks with their tail and their armor was almost impenetrable. But James loved these things for there resource gathering and the fact that they are just a tank. He pulled out his bow and loaded a tranq arrow. He shot the first ankylo. He darted back into the brush. He turned around and shot it again. It fell unconscious he fed it berries. He did the same thing to the others and then waited. Soon he had tamed five ankylos. He decided this was good enough and began to head back to his home with five new pets.
