The promised land chapter 10 Nic’s POV:

Nic ran toward James. James ducked as a tail swung and knocked down the tree behind him over. It landed with a crash. Ankylos burst through the trees Nic pulled out his torched and swung it at them. “Stop!” He yelled. The ankylos looked at each other confused then they turned to James. He whistled and they all gathered around him.

“Meet my new pets.” James said.

“Thank god they’re not wild.” Nic said with relief. James went inside and came out holding a saddle. He placed it gently on the back of the ankylo. He hopped on the saddle. The ankylo ran in a circle then James grabbed the reigns and led it to the front gate. He whistled again and all the ankylos came to him. James walked inside and opened the storage box. A man toppled out. James jump backwards.

“Finally!” Said the man.

“NIC!” James yelled “Why is there a man in my storage box?”

“About that.” Nic said.

“Hey I was just sent here to get Amy.” The man said

“What!” James and Nic said.

“You are not taking my sister!” James said.

Amy walked inside and hit James in the back of his head with the handle of her sword. He fell to the floor. She leaned down and whispered in his ear “Liar.” She stabbed his leg. Blood spilled on to the floor. James screamed. Nic grabbed a shield. Now he wished he had listened to James and used a sword. He had to choose a shield or a pike. Meanwhile Amy had a shield and a sword. The man came up behind Nic and put him in a chokehold. Amy walked up with her sword calmly and sliced his leg…
