Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a xiphactinus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a xiphactinus.
Let it munch on your mosa and basi while you blast with arrows or harpoon. They won't run when torpidity gets high and will regen health quickly while attacking your tame. They starve in a few minutes, no narcs needed. 12-14 superior kibble for 150 on 1x
Just kite it to a beach and itll start to flop, use a longneck and tranqs, easy knock out and relatively safe, no traps needed for this one
Tame a high level turtle and let this thing munch on that while you knock it out. Watch out you don’t kill it as it doesn’t torpor run and heals quickly. I call them sardines, although they are definetly not sardine sized hahaha
If you are on the center you can find tons of these in-need-of-a-dentist fish around the beaches of the redwoods. Hope this helped 😃
It has high torpor so lure it to shallow water and trap it there, use darts. Arrows may likely jill it before it KO’s. It prefers superior kibble. Takes about 6 to tame a level 110 so scale it from there. Hope this helps!
Super fast and annoying, just trap with dino gates and it’s an easy tame
These are pretty easy to tame, I didn’t even trap one I just had one attack my basilo near the shore and they don’t torpor run so that’s helpful.
Peek your head just under the water so you can see them at a distance. Shoot a couple tranqs at them it'll aggro and Chase and you lead it back to shore. Tranq it from the safety of the beach
May 22nd. Official server weekday a Lv 130F took 10 Superior Kibble (~89.9% effectiveness +64 lvls) had 9614 Topor with mid-high topor drain and slow up tick. High chance to kill with crossbow if you don't pace yourself.
Get in shallow water and trap with billboards then
1.shoot with shocking tranq dart
2.shoot with shocking tranq dart
3.feed kibble.
Can be instant tamed-I tank a pack of them with a turtle and tranq the highest level almost to full torpor and wait until it does it's bleed attack this will drain it's food stat completely but u gotta KO fast before the food stat rebuilds.
When I first encountered this creature I grappled to my pteranodon over the surface of the water. Immediately got dragged down and brutally killed. Do yourself a favor and tame a tanky creature that you can wield while riding or make a trap first.
If you use a tanky water creature, you can place it next to a vacuum chamber and shoot shocking darts from inside
These things are pretty new so here’s the deal.
Tame a good level baryonyx, preferably one with high health or high leveled health, around 50k-100k is best. You don’t need a high level saddle but if you have one it will make this easier.
Prepare everything you need, at least two oxygen suits just incase. The big deal about this is that the BARYONYX STUNS THEM. Combined with mounted firing and the fish being unable to grab you off mount means you should easily knock it out so long as you stun it periodically for easy hits. If crap hits the fan stun and run, it should de aggro.
Works best when it’s just you (bary) and the fish. Multiple can get tricky especially if you want both, they shred health quickly and are tanky to boot with their buff
About the buff, when they apply that bleed debuff on you they gain a buff themselves. Massive health regen (similar to Argentavis buff), and the debuff will stack for every other fish that hits you with the debuff.
After you have them tamed they are great at just about anything. They murder everything and can solo alphas because they are so fast. A good saddle with the health regen makes them virtually immortal. Probably the best underwater mount in the game.
Level health until satisfied then put everything into attack. Happy hunting!
Idk why it says birthing timer these fish lay eggs. Same timers as rexs for raising. Op in ocean when swimming with pack of raised ones.
Haha. what you wanna do to tame these, you gotta go to the floating island, once your down there you should see some on the island just flopping. thats one of the easiest ways.
