You can tame these without a trap. Use a tanky mount (I used a high level Deinosuchus), single out the one you want to tame, and bring plenty of Tranqs, a crossbow, and preferably a SCUBA tank. You can shoot off of your mount to knock it out. When its torpor starts to rise it will not attempt to flee which is helpful in the taming process. Note: MAKE SURE you single out the one you want out, if there is more than one you and your mount will get absolutely shredded.

Beware all who dare cross these nasty sardines and live to tell the tale. If ye be dumb and cross these ungodly creatures of the sea. Ye be warned all tamed beasties shall die a most horrible death and ye along with it for it shall send all who tread tbeyre water's to Davy Jones locker. If by some miracle ye wishes to capture this beast build a trap and lure it in with something fast. Do not tame with a club. Use trank arrows, darts or harpoon. Forget saving ure lure. Or it be the locker for you!

These things are already one of the fastest water creatures which is already bad enough, but they also come in groups, maybe to like 3 or 4. Also they have the bleed effect, the bleed effect takes 5% of your health, doesn’t seem like alot but 5% is a whole lot. learned the hard way :(

Took a couple of these groups out with my lvl 104 archelon last night. Last group almost took e out but survived.

Hesperornis and icthyornis of any level will deal max damage against xiphactinus and 1 hit it.

Beware if this when you get brave and jump out of water to attack birds...

Eating a basi gives you an ungodly amount of oil.

These things can flop around on land. Beware

Let it munch on your mosa and basi while you blast with arrows or harpoon. They won't run when torpidity gets high and will regen health quickly while attacking your tame. They starve in a few minutes, no narcs needed. 12-14 superior kibble for 150 on 1x

When I was learning how to use and ride my xipho, I grabbed an ichthy (they’re my favorite aquatic) just to see what it would do. Little did I know that ichthy was about to become non existent. RIP lvl 6 ichthy 😔☹️

This thing is literally a icthy on steroids its just as fast if not faster it has a insane pack buff (a mate boosted pair can tear apart alpha leeds, megs, and mosas) and they’re also good on there own if you have it imprinted and you have alot of skill and patience

They can jump out of water and even onto land for a little bit but they cant stay on land for too long or else they will take damage overtime (which is percent based)

If you see these big fish at a low level when swimming do not go near them because they are massive, aggressive sardines called xiphactinus which will speed towards you and gobble you up. Thanks and gl!! 🪳🪳🪳

It killed MrPickleRex whom was level 156. From what I've experienced, they usually travel in groups and can lead Megalodons to you. Also as said by numerous people they are not small. They're about the size of a small bus or a truck.
