So I was trying to tame it on a tapejara... When it is in turrent mode, it didn't hurt my tapejara. So maybe it's a glitch/bug but it won't hurt your tapejara. But I would shoot it off my tapejara obviously, then hop back on my tapejara and wait for the torrents to be over. But attacking a velonasaur while on a tapejara doesn't do damage unless the velonasaur hits it with its claws.

When near a Velonasaur it will shoot spikes out of itโs head. If you are on a flyer such as a Pteranodon it will make it dizzy and you will fly out of control.
People havenโt emphasized this enough, but these things do a LOT of damage in the wild too so you need to be really careful while trying to tame them. Specifically the R variant, which I have been taming on Fjordur can just shred through your tames and you. They can also shoot you while your on a mount.
How to escape a Velonasaur:
1) run
2) run faster
3) run a lot faster
4) RUN LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT BECAUSE IT DOES ALL THE TIME
Never underestimate these bastards, I was trying to tame one of them and THEIR NEEDLES HAVE RANGE! I was on the other side of the lake in the desert biome and I was getting aim boted by thier needles. MAKE SURE TO HAVE SOME MED BREWS IF U TRY TO TAME ONE!

In my experience, they almost always spawn in pairs. Make sure you check the entire area if you think you're only fighting/taming one!
