Easy tame, if you bola first. Very skittish. Excellent aerial manoeuvrability (strafing, and backwards possible). Can perch on vertical surfaces and regain stamina. Saddle carries three people, all of whom can use weapons. Excellent flyer for tribe operations, just keep an eye on weight capacity when loaded for bear and try not to get hit, low health. Can grab a few things but not too much. If you have the chance, grab it. Good utility flyer, can do a bit of everything just not especially good at anything except as a multiple aerial transport, and dog fighting.

There is a bunch of them at the red obelisk on scorched earth. :)

The pachyrhino can aggro them using its angering debuff, so apply the debuff get close to it, and it will come flying at you. It will attack you and you can bola it while riding the pachyrhino.

Why do they say sneak up just run up really fast with a bola wack it with one and shoot it in the head with trauqs it’s quite easy after I got the hang of it good luck and have fun.

This reptile is like an improved version of Pteranodon its much better.

How to tame one in the easy way:

1. Find a tapejara and then Bola it. (it if it sees you it flies away so quickly bola it before it flies away.)(I recommend crafting more cuz u might miss)

2. Then knock it out with tranq arrows, toxicant arrows, Tranquilizer darts or shocking Tranquilizer darts.

3. Once you have knocked it out feed it any type of meat or allosaurus kibble. Also if the taming takes too long feed it narcotics or other stuff that increases its torpor.

4. Enjoy your Tapejara! :)

Use a fast creature - wolf, bear, raptor, sabertooth tiger - from whose saddle you can shoot, take a bola, and when tapejara lands, run there very fast! Tapejara will not have time to react and fly away, if you will throw the bola on the way to it. After this, knock it out and feed. It works on mobile, but I think, on PC it will works too.

Now one thing Christmas is for is sharing, and so this is a merry tipmas gift for you!

Remeber: These are found on the alien side of genisis 2 if your looking

Taming: These creatures can be bolad! With your bola and club jump the creature like it was a piñata till its asleep for a bit

Torpidity: its a bit fast

Food: meat, raw prime meat (they are carnivores)

Level up tips: Stamina, food, meelee

Name idea!: name them after patterns of cloth and sleeves of shirts. (yes sleeves of shirts have names look them up)

Actually pretty good way to tame quetzals if no potent dust for dodo arrows. Set target on quetzal for it and it will chase it. Make sure it is low melee. As it is following shoot quetzal with tranq arrows/darts.

On the islands I found one stuck in a rock.I tamed it and named it George but then I had my friend over and he accidentally killed along with one of my favorite Argys and fast prardon. He is a very bad driver.

I tamed one at level 21, i just used a bola and a club and some meat, that’s all

Sniped one with a bola, the rest was easy.

Here's a tip on how to tame this. Use full ghillie armor. Crouch walk behind it , Bola it, And Quickly Tranq it

Um so turns out the one I tamed was a female so I now have a source to tape Jara eggs is that good? Uproot if that is good

Okay this is probably gonna sound stupid but... it’s just a thought, so if you don’t like it, DON’T LOOK AT IT!!

The fact that these guys are so distrustful and shy towards humans is so embarrassing that it sometimes makes me feel a little bad for them... So there should be an option to passively tame them, where we just apply bug repellent and wear ghillie armor. From there, they will only get scared and fly off if we come into PHYSICAL contact with them.

They would accept all meat (probably including fish meat, since they’d likely either scavenge off of dead bodies of a more aggressive carnivore’s rampage, and would probably also eat fish to avoid conflict, as they are shy, yet carnivorous). They’d also accept Chitin, as the wiki mentions that they were piscivores IRL.

The only problems I see are:

A. Most people likely wouldn’t use it and stick to the tradition.

B. Bug repellent is meant for insects. Tapejara are pterosaurs. I’m not sure it would affect Tapejara.

I tamed 6 of these guys in a little over an hour. (Have 14 now because I absolutely love them) They’re not that difficult after you learn how to use the bola. On crystal isles, far right side of map in the middle, there is a valley of floating islands that has tiers on each side and waterfalls/rainbows at the back. (I’m new so don’t know the regions yet) Land a pteranodon a little ways away once the tapejara lands (I say this because these are the easiest bird to tame- also with a bola).. once I got better at the bola, I just run up on them and bola them before they take off. Then tranq it 3-4 times in head (depending on level). It goes down before bola breaks.. feed it kibble/ mutton for quickest results but regular raw meat will do fine, just slower. The majority of this area is non predators (as long as you’re not at the top near the water and giant jumping spider crabs try to eat you lol)- your Tappy will be safe

On solo mobile ark GET GHILLIE ARMOR. Played 7 months without ever could tame tapejara . It just fled away, spent 100 bolas on trying. Until today than i read, GHILLIE ARMOR gives you camouflage and tapejara is nit flying away except if you are getting TOO close. Yes, i tamed my first tapejara after so much time.

One of my tapes got killed by a stupid braindead raptor
