I found a Tapajera while looking for an Equus, these things are hard to tame and knock out. I decided to try to tame and I threw a bola at him and he was trapped. I slowly started beating to Knock out with a club because at the time I was a noob and didn’t have tranq arrows just yet. It started losing health really quickly and I was confused why. Sadly, he died due to 3 Dilo’s. 1 like = one prayer for the tapajera

Okay this is probably gonna sound stupid but... it’s just a thought, so if you don’t like it, DON’T LOOK AT IT!!

The fact that these guys are so distrustful and shy towards humans is so embarrassing that it sometimes makes me feel a little bad for them... So there should be an option to passively tame them, where we just apply bug repellent and wear ghillie armor. From there, they will only get scared and fly off if we come into PHYSICAL contact with them.

They would accept all meat (probably including fish meat, since they’d likely either scavenge off of dead bodies of a more aggressive carnivore’s rampage, and would probably also eat fish to avoid conflict, as they are shy, yet carnivorous). They’d also accept Chitin, as the wiki mentions that they were piscivores IRL.

The only problems I see are:

A. Most people likely wouldn’t use it and stick to the tradition.

B. Bug repellent is meant for insects. Tapejara are pterosaurs. I’m not sure it would affect Tapejara.

I tamed 6 of these guys in a little over an hour. (Have 14 now because I absolutely love them) They’re not that difficult after you learn how to use the bola. On crystal isles, far right side of map in the middle, there is a valley of floating islands that has tiers on each side and waterfalls/rainbows at the back. (I’m new so don’t know the regions yet) Land a pteranodon a little ways away once the tapejara lands (I say this because these are the easiest bird to tame- also with a bola).. once I got better at the bola, I just run up on them and bola them before they take off. Then tranq it 3-4 times in head (depending on level). It goes down before bola breaks.. feed it kibble/ mutton for quickest results but regular raw meat will do fine, just slower. The majority of this area is non predators (as long as you’re not at the top near the water and giant jumping spider crabs try to eat you lol)- your Tappy will be safe

The beginning of your mastery of flyers. Bola sniping, indefinite whislte airborne, pretty much all the flyer mechanics start with thus guy.

For those who's looking for it you need to go up in the sky and u can see a lot of them there btw I try it in ark mobile they usually spawn near the green obelisk

If low level bola and then toxicant arrow in the the head with crossbow to knock it out

Using rare flowers to lure them to safety is really handy, especially if they are really high in the air. Once they are somewhere safe I use the rare flower still to keep their interest and then bola them. Using a good longneck and getting headshots should knock these guys out fast.

White Tapejaras spawn in the North Zone 2 Oasis.

So I followed some of the basic tips on here for taming. Found one but it ended up being attacked by a carno. It flew away, I chased it down on an argy, until I saw it calm down. I then Flew high above it, crafted parachutes and put my argy on follow, parachuted down and bolaed it mid air. Worked like a charm. So yea there a nice lil backup plan encase your tapejara Flys away on you.

3. Feed Any Type of meat. I Suggest Allo Kibble

4. Feed Bio-Toxin Or Narcotic

Find an area that is crowded with things like trees and rocks,then find one and Bola it.Hope this helps.

If you need one badly and can Switch between Maps then you need to go in Crystal Isles, there are very Common where the flying Islands are, at the top right Corner of the map

It can cling on walls, but if you fly backwards into the wall and try to cling you will face down, instead of up. Being able to shoot things below you and easely tame a wide variety of dino's that can't reach you, exaples are; Rex, allos carnos, anky's, and even thylacoleos by clinging on the opposing tree and shooting it, you will want to make sure you put a bear trap under you when taming, because they will flee out of range and escape your grasp because of their torpor. The tapejara may be hard to tame sometimes, but if will save you a bunch of recources for traps.

This dude is extremely useful for taming the desert titan. Just get him a tek saddle and element and he will be ready. They can shoot from the tek saddle and damage the corruption spott(each element gives 25 shots) and they can maneuver around the titan really well

mine was easy it had no stamina so it had to land so it could only fly for a few seconds before having to go down again that way it barely covered any ground

Use rare flowers to lure them into a cage trap them in it tranq, tame and there you go easy tame let others know if you like it

Rare flowers worl on them people so if its in the sky and won't get down use one!!!!!

These things seem very arrogant and high on themselves who agrees?

For those who don’t know, rare flowers don’t aggro animals on mobile. If you’re mobile it’s easier to just bola the tapejara while it’s on the ground and then shoot them with narc arrows, you can use a slingshot too but it will break out of the bola before you knock it out most of the time.

Tapes are good for taming since it can hang in trees and stone
