Tips & Strategies

What are tips for tapejara? Tips and strategies for tapejara in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Try to tame a higher level than 20 so you can survive being hit by a wyvern if they sneak up on you
Wait for it to go close to ground or even land and then throw a bola and use tranq darts to avoid killing them
See, I love the Tapejara, one of the best looking dinos imo but its not worth getting unless out of enjoyment. (single player experience)
Yes they're very maneuverable (flies up, down, side to side and backwards), good stam, good weight and damage too. I just HATE how the devs decided to half their speed when tamed.
Worst yet, the perk of being able to shoot from its back is only available for passengers or the rider when u land on the side of an area BUT the Tapejara ONLY FRONTS UPWARDS. As you know, You only have a 180 degree radius when riding a dino and you hold something so that means you can NOT shoot downwards if you are trying to tame or kill something with a range weapon. You're better off with a griffin (and no they're not hard to tame as you think they are. Its easy af with the proper trap which is also very easy to build)
Thats all I have to say about the Tapejara, awesome dino but not a useful one.
Use a rare mushroom to agro it, they don't do that much damage
This thing will only come in handy while in multiplayer (unless you use ptes as some kind of cargo) they do the exact same thing as a pterodactyl except they have more health and more weith, but in multiplayer you can use one of these to transport up to 4 players at once in the sky, 3 on the saddle and one getting carried. Do not tame it in single player, not worth it.
Guys just a tip: don’t try to tame a tapejara on the side of the volcano. I passed hours just to reach him with my argie because he kept escaping while I kept sliding and dying for fall damage
You only need 4 raw prime meat to tame this puppy.
How to tame a pesky tapejara that causes ragequits.
First some facts:
Flowers don’t aggro in mobile
They flee if u get close
They can be easily found near red and green obelisks.
Material: tens or hundreds to tranqs. Bring extra in case u encounter another good tame like max level anky or something like that.
Bola in method 2.
Traps if u want to use rare flower in PC, not necessary.
Method 1:
1. Prepare loads of rare flowers from beaver dams.
2. Eat one near a tapejara.
3. Keep eating once in a while and lead it to a trap or bola it on land.
Method 2:
1. Wait for it 2 land.
2. From a distance, bola it.
Method 3 improvised:
If u have a good tranq weapon u can use its low torpor drain.
Shoot it and wait for it to unrender then repeat. Don’t do it with normal weapons it takes forever.
Tranq it out and watch its health. Protect if from everything and anything bc dilos like to eat tape meat.
Utility:
Flies to left, right or back.
Set on follow and have a flying taming pillar plus nonstop flyer!
Has same damage as pt.
Can carry passengers who wield weapons.
Perches on redwood trees and cliffs!
Makes good quetz tamer and Rex/bronto tamer too!
Don’t get roared to the ground. Tame a high level to prevent this!
Enjoy your tapejara!
On ark mobile I usually find them hanging around redwood or Volcano
these guys are absolute cowards, you could litteraly breathe and they would run with theyre non-existant tail between theyre stubby little legs! you may need to have caution when taming one...
Here's a tip that you can hang tapejaras in air and shoot from passenger seat without any driver because these things will land on the surface if you change seat to passenger without any driver:
Step 1: Set your tapejara to follow you.
Step 2: Set the tapejara's follow distance to low.
Step 3: Now get on your Tapejara and fly in the air.
Boom! You can change seat to passenger without any driver and shoot from air without getting your tapejara always land on the surface.
You can easily knock out any dino from the air without any driver.
Hope this tip helped you!
I saw one of these in the woods while I was a little way off collecting stones. They weren't any bolas on me so I ride to the house, take some and raw prime meat, get on my ptranodon and fly to the area. The Tapj disappeared and I accidentally ran out of stamina and landed.
I landed on totanomirma's nest and compy puck. Lost me petranodon.
Moral of the story: take an arg, not a ptranodon. The search can take a long time and even safe places can be dangers. Those things disappear fast, really fast, so I'd u should lose I sight u batter give up.
For those who play ark mobile to tame one bola it from behind or bola it from far away and one tranq dart to the head knocks it out then put in your food of choice and I hope you enjoy your new friend.
not me taming one rn 👀
👄
These are not to be under estimated in pvp if you have the tek saddle that is because theses are the ark equivalents of a ww2 spitfire deadly if used right that is. the after the trophios release if that’s how you spell it was not used nearly as much in aerial pvp in my experience so don’t judge if you have a different experience but it is still a very deadly creature and if multiple of these are pared with trophios you can make you own squadron of fighter flyers. So hope this tip makes you use and respect the tape more. This is A.L.N.A and until next time enjoy the game.
I took my Teradactal put it on follow medium, flew above the Tapejera and jumped of end equipped a perehuit and then abola it and then resaddle my bird and fly down but the aim is alot off so you have to adjust
Guys this is the same taming process as the ptera
