Aberration Day 14
4:15 PM…
Dorack and Sodden had mostly forgiven themselves and each other since the fight. But they were still at odds with each other. Dorack was confused - he didn’t know whether Sodden was telling the truth or not. Dorack and Sodden were both in the hatchery, now a two-floor stone structure with a 10 by 12 foundation. There were 20 air conditioners in the center of the first floor, a pen surrounding the ACs, and there were refrigerators lined among each side of the room, along with feeding troughs. Sodden sat in the pen, leading two small Rock Drakes towards feeding troughs, and Dorack was on the second floor, where the Megalosauruses were, with 7 Megaosaurus eggs in his arms. He set them down near 5 ACs on the opposite end of the room. He then stood up and walked downstairs. As he got to the bottom of the stairs, he walked to the first floor pen, where Sodden was leading a Rock Drake to a feeding trough near the gates. Dorack sighed and walked to him. Sodden turned around after he was done and gasped. Dorack sighed and looked at him.
“Uh, how are the rock drakes doing?” Dorack said.
“They’re doing good. All of them are now hatched. Should be done growing by tomorrow morning. Hopefully. Uh, what about the Megalosauruses?” Sodden asked. Dorack nodded.
“Doing good. There’s 13 more fully grown imprinted Megalosauruses. We have an army of around 23. I laid down 7 more eggs.” Dorack responded. Sodden nodded.
“Good. Good. Uh… look. I’ve been thinking about this for a while. I meant nothing of what I said to you the other day. We have to stick together. Syl was right. This is what Rod wants. We can’t have that.” Sodden stated firmly. Dorack sighed. He was still in a state of confusion, still unsure of whether he could trust Sodden and what he was saying.
“I… I don’t know. Can I even trust that you’re telling the truth?” Dorack asked. Sodden nodded and put his hand on Dorack’s shoulder.
“I know how hard this is on us. But we’re getting close to being ready. We can’t give up now.” Sodden stated. Dorack smiled with confidence and nodded. Sodden then walked towards the gates.
“I’m going to get meat for the Rock Drakes. We’re starting to run low. Can you stay here in case one of them needs imprinting?” Sodden asked. Dorack nodded in affirmation. Sodden nodded and turned to the gates, opening the giant doors, then closing them behind him. Dorack turned to the creatures and started looking through their stats. Most wouldn’t need an imprint for at least 30 minutes. All seemed chill in the base.

Meanwhile…
Rod slammed his fist into the iron bars of Serenity’s cell, growling. He was stood upright near the door. The Reaper King, Xenideath, was staring at him. Then a pair of doors bashed open and Dread stormed downstairs. Rod looked forward and turned around.
“Rod… when are you leaving to raid them?” Dread sneered. Rod chuckled.
“Very soon, don’t worry. My army is already sitting in the Blue Zone, ready to strike. I was just giving Serenity her rations for today. She’s gonna need them soon. And I also fed the Reaper King and Reaper Queen. She’ll need a lot of energy for the… trial.” Rod sneered. Dread chuckled and patted Rod on his shoulder.
“Okay. Prepare your Rock Drake and do not be seen. When the time is right, you strike. If all goes well, Sodden will be isolated by the start of the Ark’s polar day. That’s nine hours. They won’t stand a chance!” Dread yelled. Rod cackled loudly along with Dread.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4:45 PM…
Sodden was barely moving. His bag was extremely heavy, packed with rotten, stinky, and massive piles of raw meat. He continued walking with Reaper, who had helped pull the bag. They approached the hatchery, and Dorack was standing outside of the gates. Sodden finally approached Dorack, and Dorack then nodded and opened the gates, allowing Sodden and Reaper to go in. Sodden then groaned as he dumped a bunch of meat into the troughs, one by one. Dorack nodded.
“I imprinted some of the Rock Drakes and Megalosauruses. Imma go check the base for any supplies we need.” Dorack shouted. Sodden turned to him, smiled, and nodded in affirmation. Dorack then turned away and walked to the base. He then turned to the front door, put his hand on the door, and pushed it open. He then walked inside, only to be met with a horrifying sight. Dorack’s jaw dropped in shock. The walls were darkened and cracked, meaning something had attacked them. But the cracks had arrows and specific holes in them, so it couldn’t have been done by a creature. Then Dorack noticed the storage box near Nal’s bed was gone. There was only a pile of random junk sitting where it once was. Dorack gasped and ran to the pile. This was where they stored the Artifact of the Stalker. And lo and behold, the artifact was missing. Dorack gasped and put his hand to his mouth.
“Are you serious?” Oh… no wonder the door had no doorknob.” Dorack gasped. He looked around the place, and there didn’t seem to be further damages. That was, until he walked to Nal’s bed. There was a deep scratch on it, along with a organized lettering on it. Embedded into the thatch and hide was a sentence consisting of only two words. Dorack was horrified. The words said, “F— Nal” Dorack immediately looked down to his implant, pulled up a holographic image, and used communication to send a message to Sodden.
Sodden was imprinting a Rock Drake by feeding him some kibble, when he got a notification on his implant. Sodden looked down at it, and the message he saw made him drop his food. The Rock Drake grumbled and moved his head down to eat the food. Sodden was shocked. He immediately ran out of the hatchery and towards the base. He entered the base, and Dorack was sitting on Nal’s damaged bed, his head down. Sodden sighed in worriedness. He then walked to Dorack.
“Rod stole the artifact? How do you know?” Sodden asked in confusion. Dorack stood up and pointed at the walls.
“There’s specific holes and cracks in the walls. The shards of the storage box definitely came from an axe or a sword of some sort. The doorknob is gone, so something definitely broke the door to come in. I’m gonna say Rod did this. Stole the artifact and cursed Nal.” Dorack explained. Sodden gasped at the sight.
“Oh, no. Okay, get the hazard suits. We’re going to find Rod now.” Sodden said. Dorack gasped.
“But-” Dorack said, then Sodden interrupted and put his hand on Dorack’s shoulder.
“We’re going to do this. Time to stop Rod. Get the Rock Drakes and hazard suits.” Sodden explained. Dorack smiled with confidence and nodded. Then they both walked out of the base, towards the hatchery, where they collected one fully grown Rock Drake to take with them. Then they both walked back to the base to get hazard suits from the storage box that was still intact, sitting on the second floor. They were ready. They put the suits on, walked downstairs, out of the door, then Sodden took the cryopod with the Rock Drake out of his bag and threw it down on the ground. Then he and Dorack hopped onto the Rock Drake, and they took off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5:07 PM
Sodden and Dorack were on the ground, in the middle of the Blue Zone. The Rock Drake needed stamna, so Dorack hopped off for a few minutes to collect some resources. Sodden hopped off the Rock Drake and walked to Dorack, who was breaking down a blue rock with his pickaxe.
“What do we need these for?” Sodden asked.
“Not sure. But they could be useful if we wanna build something there.” Dorack explained. Sodden nodded.
“Okay. Okay. Well… just be careful… alright?” Sodden asked. Dorack nodded. Dorack turned to him and was about to say something else when suddenly, they heard a silent click. Then the Rock Drake started roaring weakly and groggily, and it fell over, unconscious, lightly shaking the ground. Sodden and Dorack gasped as they backed up into some bushes, then two Megalosauruses came out and the riders on top of them grabbed the collar of each of them. The two survivors shouted as they were thrown towards the Rock Drake’s feet. Then as they crashed into the ground, another person came over and grabbed Sodden’s neck, then he shot Dorack with a tranq dart. Dorack shouted in pain, but the dart was ineffiecent as Dorack had very good armor. The person growled deeply. Then one of the Megalosauruses grabbed Dorack by the shirt and dragged him away.
“NO!” Dorack yelled. Sodden was hitting the person’s arm, but it did nothing.
“ENOUGH!! I need to chat with them.” Someone growled from a bush. Then they rose and walked over to Dorack.
“Take Dorack to the base. I’ll handle Sodden.” Rod sneered to the Megalosaurus’ riders who had Dorack. The riders nodded and began walking. Rod then turned to Sodden and grabbed his left arm, took out a shotgun, and rested the bullet chambers right on top of his implant.
“Listen to me now, and everything will be fine.” Rod chuckled. Sodden gasped in shock and horror as he watched Dorack get taken away. He slowly began falling asleep. Dorack was going unconscious. Sodden groaned. What was going to happen now!?

Journey Chapter 34
Forest got up and looked at Nightfall. “How are we lost? Just go to the top of a dune and see if you can find the mountains.” Forest said confused about what the trouble was.
“I tried, the haze though from the sunset light reflecting from the sand and the sand that’s in the air is blocking out anything you can see that isn’t a mile away. All I can see is ” Nightfall said.
Forest went and looked for himself, Nightfall was right. He couldn’t see anything over the haze and sand up higher in the sky. Forest tried to quickly think of another way they could find Methuselah. He immediately thought of following his tracks back but couldn’t find any. The wind had blown sand over any tracks he made. He had no other idea of how to find Methuselah or where he wanted them to go called the oasis.
“So is Nightfall’s right?” Crimson asked.
“Yeah, he’s right. We’re lost.” Forest answered.
“Great. This is your fault Nightfall!!!” Crimson snapped.
“My fault!? Why is it my fault!” Nightfall asked.
“It’s your fault for using me as a tool to get Forest out of there and getting us lost in an unknown place with unknown creatures to us in the process!!” Crimson growled.
“First, I saved you!! And still haven’t got a thank you for that!! Second, you have a bit of a fair point but lastly, it is your fault too!! You started chasing me so hard I didn’t think where we needed to head.”
“That’s still your fault Leechstick!! You should’ve thought of that before executing your plan!!” Crimson answered.
“How could I when we were in a life-threatening situation!!” Nightfall screeched,
Forest began to ignore the fight Crimson and Nightfall were starting. Forest’s night vision started working as he searched for a sign of where to go. Even with that, he couldn’t see where they were, he was trying to stay calm as possible. Night was slowly falling and didn’t know what to expect in this strange desert. He began to feel the sand beneath him heat up and look down. He couldn’t see anything different nor could he feel anything that could be a warning to a threat. He looked in the air and saw the faint glow of hot ash flying through the air. Forest turned to Nightfall to see if he could stop the fight long enough to ask him what this was.
“Guys.” Forest said, but they didn’t hear him over their fight. He decided to wait until they calmed down or until Nightfall was talking.
“You know, you are worse than Rust was!” Crimson growled.
“Well I’ve met nicer Gigas tha-”
“Nightfall!!” Forest said, interrupting Nightfall loudly.
“What is it Forest?” Nightfall said griping.
“What’s happening right now?” Forest asked.
“I’m having an argument with this grumpy croc an-” “No not your fight. What’s going on with the weather? It’s raining ash.” Forest said. Nightfall’s eyes went wide as he realized what was going on around him. He walked slowly ahead of Crimson and Forest. Crimson walked up to Forest and gave him a look.
“Is it too late to eat him, Forest? If we find Methuselah, we can just say he got buried in the dunes and no one would know the better besides us. And I have heard Troodon meat is good.” Crimson said, Forest gave her an irritated look.
“I don’t believe it. It’s a superheat.” Nightfall exclaimed.
“What’s a superheat?” Forest asked.
“Well, it is an extreme heatwave. If it was in the day, we’d all be burning up to death. But it’s rare to have one start at night.” Nightfall explained. Crimson huffed
“Well, this place is-… What’s that in the sky?” Crimson said.
Forest and Nightfall both looked up to the sky and saw something glowing in the sky. Forest thought he could see wings coming from the glowing star. Nightfall began making dodo noises and was jumping up and down.
“Okay, we need to follow that!!” Nightfall exclaimed, Crimson looked at Nightfall.
“Why? So we can get lost even more.” Crimson said.
“Very funny, but no. Because it will lead us out of the dunes or to the mountains! Maybe even an oasis like we’re are supposed to go to!!”
Forest and Crimson didn’t even question it after that and ran after the strange light. Forest could hear Nightfall behind him trying to catch up. Forest noticed that the strange light was coming down lower to the ground than when they first spotted it.
As they were moving, Forest could feel his mouth drying out. It was hot and dry with this superheat. Forest stopped to grab his canteen out of his bag…
His bag wasn’t there. He went flush and panicked as he looked around to see if he dropped his bag behind himself somewhere. But it was nowhere in sight. He didn’t even remember having it with him while searching for Nightfall and Crimson. Did he grab it off of Methuselah’s back? He forgot his bag on Methuselah’s back before they jumped off!! He started to panic thinking about what could’ve happened to the rune and all his other belongings that were in his bag. Forest could see Nightfall stopping and turning towards him.
“Forest! Why did you stop!? We need to keep moving!!” Nightfall yelled.
Forest quickly started moving again. He could only hope that the Rune and his bag would still be on Methuselah when they meet back up with him. He started running and quickly passed Nightfall.
They ran in the dark for a long while with only the light of ash in the air and the bright, starlike creature they were following. The creature began to descend ahead of them and seemingly landed. The light of the creature was being blocked out by something, Forest could see it as some trees and shrubs. But he could smell one thing that made his eyes water with desperation. Water… and he wasn’t the only one who could smell it. Crimson and Nightfall could smell it too.
“Last one to the Water Vein is a rotten fish!!” Crimson shouted as she sprinted towards the smell.
Nightfall bolted ahead of Forest almost immediately. Forest was shocked and was desperate for some water. But he was curious about what they had been following for the last couple of hours. He could see the light from behind a couple of boulders on the edge of this oasis.
Forest quickly moved and got some water, he never felt so much emotion for drinking water. It was hard for him to leave the water vein to go see this creature. As Forest walked up, his night vision began to fade and the light from the creature was beginning to blind him. The heat from the creature’s light was so bright and hot, it was beginning to sting Forest to stand by. He stepped several steps back to get away from the heat and to let his eyes adjust. As they did, he saw something so beautiful and strange. Something he had never seen before.
In the center of the light and what he could see now as fire was a bird. A bird with glossy and fluttering feathers that shined from the fire that it was emitting. Forest sat there for a moment admiring the reddish orange bird as it ate some sort of rock. He had to keep looking away periodically to make sure he wasn’t going to blind himself.
“Thank you for saving us.” Forest said turning back to the bird. The bird jumped and looked right at Forest. It stared at him for a moment, confused. It didn’t seem to understand what Forest said, but Forest was happy that he had said it. It stood there looking at Forest for a moment longer before it flew into the air and went off in a direction away from the oasis.
Forest watched as it flew away, he was in awe of this magical creature. But Forest noticed something strange about it. Flakes of ash started falling from it. Forest watched as the flames of the bird faded and the bird began to turn to ash as the air around Forest began to cool down around him.
“Hey, Forest! What are you looking at?” Nightfall said as he walked up. Forest softly sighed.
“Just admiring the beauty of this incredible place.” Forest said, Forest looked at Nightfall and sighed
“I’m sorry for acting so stupid earlier, I really shouldn’t have. Thank you for helping us get out of there.” Forest said, Nightfall looked at him and smiled at Forest.
“Look, I am sorry too. I probably shouldn’t have said those things about you being stupid. You're just, unique. You can be smart and you can be dumb. I’d just say you're in the middle. But you have a big heart, and you are the first genuine friend I’ve ever had.” Nightfall said, Forest smiled wide before looking back out to the desert. Nightfall sat there for a moment doing the same thing.
“I should go apologize again to Crimson.” Nightfall said as he went back to the water vein. Forest though was too preoccupied with what was happening, watching the ashes of the strange creature fall slowly and gracefully to the ground.
The Riddles of The Phoenixes
The Lost world
Chapter nine: Teaming up.
Cedric’s wet boots squeaked as he walked. *SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!* Oliver chuckled. “That sounds so weird.” He laughed. Cedric smirked at him evilly. “Imagine how it feels.” Oliver blinked. “Is there water in there?” He asked. Cedric stroked his chin in mock thoughtfulness. “Hmm….let me see.” Cedric said. He pulled his boot up, raised it over Oliver’s head and tipped it over. Ocean water splatted on Oliver’s face and hair. Oliver gaped at him. Cedric grinned. “Yep! There was water in there!” Oliver pushed his glasses up and glared at Cedric. Cedric innocently put his boot back on. “Why. Did. You. Do. That?” Oliver exclaimed angrily. Cedric’s grin was his only answer. “I don’t know how anyone puts up with you.”Oliver muttered. “They don’t. Why do you think I was sent to the Phoenix school in the first place? And besides you were already wet, why not get wetter?” Kannon was staring straight ahead, ignoring them. They continued walking. Strange prehistoric animals roamed about. Pterodactyls and dimophons flew above them and triceratops, parsaurs, and dodos and more creatures roamed about.
“This is so weird. It’s like we’ve been transported back to the Arks. But they were years ago. Why do you think this is happening?” Oliver asked. Cedric shrugged. “We can’t be the only one’s here.” Cedric said. “We’re not.” Oliver said grimly. Kannon pointed ahead. Two girls were walking in their direction. One was Rowan and the other was Elayne. “I’m gonna get sunburnt!!! My beautiful complexion….all gone!!” Elayne wailed. Rowan was tugging her along by her wrist. “Will you please shut it!!!! I’m trying to help US survive and you aren’t helping by being a big baby.” Rowan snapped. “You’re squeezing my arm to hard!!! You’re gonna leave a mark!” Elayne moaned. Rowan glanced up and spotted them. Immediately she froze.
Oliver, Cedric, and Kannon walked up. A piece of black cloth was tied around Rowan’s right wrist. “You’re digging your fingernails into my arm!!!” Elayne wailed. Rowan grunted and thrust her forward. “Will you stop complaining?! I’m trying to help us survive and all you’re doing is complaining?!” Rowan growled. Elayne cowered. Cedric stepped forward, smiling softly. “Hey. Give her a break, will you?” Cedric asked. “She’s never been helpless.” Rowan spun toward him, her eyes flashing with anger. “What do you know?! I’ve been dragging this “poor, helpless” princess along!!! She’s done nothing. Nothing!” Rowan spat. Elayne whimpered. Cedric grinned and squared his shoulders. “Worst things have been done.” He said.
Rowan rolled her eyes. “Yeah right. Take your useless cousin.” Rowan said, pushing Elayne toward him. Elayne whimpered and hid behind him. “Calm down, bro.” Cedric said. Rowan glared at him. “What do you think you are, the leader here?” Rowan glared at him. “I’m not your “bro”!! If I was going to stay with you bozos then yes, because I’m the only one here who actually knows how to survive. He is useless, he is a scaredy-cat, she is a drama queen, and you-you might have potential but all you can do is play around! Good luck! I’m finding my own way off this island!”
Kannon looked on blankly, Oliver ducked his head, Elayne clutched Cedric’s arm, and Cedric…Cedric smiled softly. “You’re right. We can’t “survive” without a leader. And sense you have so happily volunteered and shown us what kind of leader you are….you can be our leader!” Cedric exclaimed. Rowan sputtered with indignation. Cedric continued grinning. “No! I can’t- I mean- I won’t- ugh stop making that face- ugh fine!! But y’all have to do EXACTLY as I say!!” Rowan snapped. Cedric shrugged. “The rest of them agree.” He said. Rowan’s eyes glittered with anger. She scowled.

Bio horror
Chapter one (before this was underworld in ravager)
It had been a week since Sarah, Sam and Kalmar defeated Steelhide, and they’d already set up a base in the bioluminescent region. However, they didn’t know anything about the living lump of BIO-X that was roaming the region, hunting down and killing everything in sight. Soon this would all change, but it would begin with a nameless pack hiding in the ground near their base.
Bio horror
Epilogue
After defeating the bio horror, they took some of its blood and continued, they travelled to the very edge of the bioluminescent region, fully equipped with radiation suits and charge lanterns, and descended down into the deepest depths of aberration...
Next story will be The Sea of Element in Nameless!! Hope you enjoyed!
Bio horror
Chapter eleven
A huge, glowing green spider like creature burst out of the water, screeching happily.
“The hell is that!?” Sam yelled.
“Who knows! Let’s kill it!” John said. Two large arms ending with sharp spikes appeared out of its body, and it stabbed at the group with them. They dodged out of the way and shot at the thing, making holes in its hide that leaked a strange green liquid. It roared furiously, and the spike on its left arm transformed into a sharp blade, and it swung it at them, trying to slash them open.
“I’ve got an idea!” Sarah shouted, and jumped at one of its legs, climbing up it and grabbing onto its back. She got out a shotgun and blasted a hole in its back. It screamed in pain as the pulled out a grenade and shoved it into the wound, before jumping off just as its body blew to pieces and rained green blood and flesh down on them.
They had won.
Bio horror
Chapter ten
“KALMAR!!!!! NOOOOO!!!!” Sarah screamed, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“It’s only us three now” Sam said tearfully.
“We must burn his body” John told them.
“Yes” Sarah agreed. So they did this, and mourned him. They weren’t away of the huge, serpent like blob of BIO-X lurking the water, the Bio Horror had found them...
Sorry for a short chapter, the next one will be the last one. Also, RIP Kalmar, lasted nearly five stories, and had a fun time with his friends.
The Arks: Over Heaven (by Ben)
Chapter 83: Last Supper
Warren and Sam walked out of the Capital’s airport and were greeted with a blast of warm, humid air that soaked their bodies in a luscious heat. Warren shielded his eyes with his hand, and he saw Son, Calem, and Jack waiting for them on the runway.
“I don’t mind soaking in the sun at the beach and getting a tan,” Calem commented, looking at Son’s skin, “I want something like Son’s.”
Son rolled his eyes, one hand in his pocket and the other holding onto a protein bar, which he was munching down on.
“I’m sure you do.”
Jack gasped in wonder at the city before them. There were tons of buildings scattered about the island, each one so tall they seemingly reached the clouds. Mansions and other huge homes were placed on the cliffs, facing the ocean’s fierce waves. There were definitely not as many people at the Capital as there were at Star City, but there were still a lot. The people, wearing t-shirts and shorts because of the weather, were walking along the streets, chatting about everyday life.
“Sheesh it’s hot here,” Calem said, fanning his face with the book. Even with loose clothing he seemed to already be sweating, “I’m not sure I like it.”
“It’s hotter than I anticipated,” Jack said, adjusting the scarf that was around his neck. Son looked around the area, confused.
“So the President lives here, right? Where is he?” Son asked, scratching his head. Jack seemed dumbfounded by Son’s question.
“You don’t know where the President lives? Everyone knows! Even me!” Jack exclaimed. Son gave Jack an annoyed look.
“I’m new here, to be honest. I’ve only been around here since 2026. Last year. So could you blame me?”
“Huh? You moved here?” Sam asked, her hands on her hips.
“Yeah. I came from the Western States. California, more specifically. That’s how I got my tan,” Son grinned. His grin faded away.
“I heard it’s ghetto there. Lots of violence,” Warren commented the obvious.
“It is. Why do you think I moved?” Son said, “It’s not like education was any good either. And the justice system was flawed in a lot of ways. So yeah. My family and I moved here. But now I’m really beginning to regret it, with everything going on right now. I did NOT think that my nephew would be placed on an island which happened to be the game we used to play,” Son said, his eyes squinted and his lips curving into an annoyed frown.
“And hey, I didn’t ask for it either but here we are,” Warren interrupted Son, “To answer your question, the President lives over there.’
Warren pointed his finger into the inner depths of the city, closer to the center of the island. There were large walls surrounding the perimeter of the inner city, and a huge tower jutted into view from the center of the inner city. It was shaped like a diamond near the top.
“That’s the ‘Obelisk’,” Warren explained, “It’s located in the Inner City of the Capital, which only government officials and law enforcement may access. The President lives there and does all his work there. Right at the tippy top is his office.”
“But how are we supposed to get to the President if we can’t access the Inner City?” Jack asked, scratching his head. A group of tourists watched the five, pointing fingers and whispering amongst each other. Sam looked at the tourists with a glare, adjusting her outfit.
“Let’s go somewhere more private. People are gonna think we’re scheming something,” Sam whispered to them. Jack opened his mouth to speak,
“But we are-”
“Shhhh,” Son hushed him. Jack apologized profusely. The five quickly made their way to the beach, where there weren’t as many people. A few ladies were laying on beach mats with their backs facing the sky, the rays of sunshine casted upon their tanning bodies. Children played in the waters, splashing each other and dunking each other into the waves, while adults and teens were playing volleyball at the nets, hitting the ball to each other and yelling in delight.
The five found a spot near a cliff where there was some shade, and began to plan.
~
After a half hour of scheming, all of them had concocted a game plan to reach the President. It would be a very risky plan, and there was a high chance that one if not most of them would die. Warren didn’t want to dawn on the thought, nor did he want to give them false hopes. The others recognized the threat and were willing to put their lives on the lines for their families.
For starters, they would need weapons. Guns, to be specific. With Sam being the only person in their team authorized to obtain them, Sam would enter the Inner City first and get them from the nearest police station, hopefully without being caught. After all, police officers were only allowed one firearm. If she were caught the whole plan would be foiled.
Then, during the night, when security was less tight than it is during the day, they’d climb the walls that surrounded the Inner City with Son’s rock climbing gear. Jack had suggested they blew it all down, but they preferred not to be caught. After all, the Capital was the United Republic of Democracies’ most coveted and precious city. They would easily be bombarded with police and military units alike. Being caught was not an option, no matter what.
And finally, they’d enter the Obelisk and interrogate the President at gunpoint. Once they got the information they’d need, they’d figure the rest out. Hopefully, if things went right, they might even manage to make the President release the scholars back onto Earth. Warren hoped this was the case, but chances were unlikely. The best case scenario was that there was a way to reach that island and get everyone off safely, one way or another.
It was already noon by the time they were done planning. The first step of the plan was already in action, and Sam was getting their guns at the moment. They were waiting in a hotel room close to the walls of the Inner City, waiting for Sam to return. Jack was already beginning to sweat, his leg bouncing up and down like a pogo stick.
“Truth be told, I’m scared,” Jack admitted, looking out the window, “I don’t think I’d be able to forgive myself if I died. What would Lil Jack think? I don’t know what he’d do without anyone to hold onto. I… Don’t want him to continue living his life as a rag tag thug. I want him to change like I did.”
Son looked at Jack with a raised eyebrow.
“That’s what you call your kid? Lil Jack?” Son snorted. Jack nodded silently.
“Yeah. Jackie, technically, but I like to call him that for short,” Jack said. Calem sighed, putting a hand on Jack’s shoulder.
“I’m scared too, Jack. I want to see my little brother, Rick, again and just read a good book with him… But we have to put these thoughts aside. We can’t let it hold us back,” Calem told him, “They won’t survive otherwise.”
Son nodded, rolling his head back and massaging his neck.
“Calem’s right. Just be brave. Turn that anger for the President into the motivation we need to stop this once and for all.”
Jack looked at everyone with a smile.
“Thanks guys. Thanks.”
Warren looked out the window to see Sam approaching the hotel with Son’s large backpack strapped around her shoulder. Warren turned to the others.
“I need to tell you all something,” Warren finally said. All eyes turned to him.

As Sam entered the hotel room, she chucked the backpack onto the bed and took a seat on the sofa, turning her head to face the others.
“I got the guns. So are we just gonna wait around for night and head out?”
Jack got up from his seat, a little nervous.
“No. We’re going out for dinner. A last supper before our mission,” Jack claimed. Sam seemed surprised by this. Her eyes were wide in shock, but she had no complaints.
“I suppose. So, where are we going to eat?”
~
The five were standing in front of a bustling, busy restaurant near the beach. There were a lot of palm trees surrounding the building, dew collecting at the tips of leaves and dripping down onto the concrete ground. Warren looked up at the sign of the restaurant: Humble Jungle Grill.
“How about this one? I can smell the good food from inside,” Warren suggested, looking at everyone for an answer. Calem took a whiff of the air and nodded.
“Sounds good.”
Jack gave him the thumbs up, and Son nodded along. Sam smiled at the sight of the restaurant.
“I like the idea too. Let’s go,” Sam smiled. Warren looked at her smile with soft eyes.
“I haven’t seen Sammy smile like this in a long time,” Warren thought. Warren pulled his gaze away from Samuel and walked inside of the restaurant. He could hear the sound of a grill sizzling, and the clinking of glasses.
“Hey, table of five?” the waiter asked from the counter. Warren nodded his head. The waiter showed them a table that had seven chairs.
“We have a free table here. There are menus waiting for you there.”
All five of them walked over to the table and took a seat. Jack took a seat next to Son while Sam sat next to Warren again, making his heart jump in shock. Calem sat right next to Son.
“Alright what do y’all want to get?” a waitress asked, walking up to them. All five of them took a quick look at the menu, put their orders in, and the waitress left to go to the kitchen.
The table was completely silent. Could Warren blame them? This could be their last supper for all they knew. Sam eyed the bread basket hungrily. Warren recalled the little food Sam ate after their divorce and her wild change in behavior. It must have all been to spite him, but ever since the two began working together to uncover the mystery of their missing son, she was slowly returning to her old self. Warren pushed the detail past to the side though. Sam was probably just getting exhausted playing this game.
“But the plane was different,” Warren thought. He shook his head. No. That didn’t count. They had both been through that together, but it wouldn’t change Sam’s undying hatred for Warren. For letting their daughter down.
“That’s why I have to do this,” Warren pondered, blinking his eyes.
Sam looked like she was about to reach her hand out to grab a piece of bread, but finally she snatched it from the basket, munching down on it hungrily. Warren smirked at the sight, and Sam gave him a look, turning a slight shade of red.
Sam took a moment to pause, wiping her lips with a napkin,
“I don’t wanna hear it.”
Warren’s smirk stayed.
“Right, right.”
Unlike the other three, who were deep in conversation, Sam and Warren were a lot more awkward. The two stopped talking for a moment, looking off at the other customers of the restaurant. There were mostly couples eating here, which made Sam even more red.
“It’s not so bad,” Sam finally continued, taking another bite out of the bread. Even though they were sitting with the other three, their conversations were drowned out by the two of them. “I… Like this. It’s nice just eating good foods, telling bad jokes… Having a fun time.”
Sam’s expression softened, her lips curving into a smile. She looked at Warren’s eyes.
“I want to go back to how things were.”
Warren looked back at Sam’s smile, smiling back.
“Me too. If you’re willing to put it all behind… We can do it.”
Sam blinked her eyes slowly. Warren glanced at her soft, luscious lips. He noticed Sam’s head lean in slowly.
“Here’s your food, ladies and gentlemen!” the waiter interrupted their moment, placing plates down onto the table. Jack looked at the food with stars in his eyes, and Calem began to rub his hands together softly. Son smiled at the look of the food.
“This looks delicious!” Jack commented, taking a fork and a knife and cutting into the delicious steak. Calem grabbed a drinking glass, filled with grape juice, and held it up in the air.
“Cheers to saving our families!” Calem shouted. Everyone took their own glass and clinked it into Calem’s and each other’s.
“To saving our families,” they all replied.
They spent the rest of the evening dining and enjoying their last moments before their big mission. And although Warren couldn’t help but feel the heartstrings tugging, he could wait. He was a patient man.
~
After they were done, they paid off the bill and headed back to their hotel room. Son, Calem, and Jack all took a shower in the three bathrooms provided to them by the hotel, leaving Warren and Sam in the living room by themself. Sam smirked at him.
“Wanna continue where we left off?” Sam asked. Warren smiled back.
“Of course.”
The two walked up to each other and mashed their lips together.

Chapter seven
The purge was nasty, really nasty. Well, that’s what Kalmar thought at least. Karkinos, megalosaurus, baryonyx, ravagers, reapers, nameless, rock drakes and many more were battling it out, and they were stuck in the middle of it all. Kalmar could barely hear anything over the gunshots. The bodies of creatures littered the floor, and the air was filled with the stench of death. Then, a megalosaurus grabbed Kalmar and threw him at Sam, knocking him over. Then it happened. The bullets struck. They hit Kalmar in the back, he fell to the floor, and blacked out.

Chapter six
“Good job Sam” John commented.
“Thanks”
“We need to get to the base!” Kalmar interrupted.
“Yes we do” Sarah agreed. They went to the base, and prepared themselves, only they didn’t know what for.
“Why are we doing this again?” Sarah asked.
“The purge, it’s coming” John replied.
“What the hell is the purge?” Kalmar asked.
“It’s where all aggressive creatures in the area converge on one location and battle it out.”
“Great” Sam muttered.
“And we’re joining in...”

Chapter three
The alpha nameless smashed into Kalmar and knocked him backwards into the wall. Sam began to shoot at it, but gave up when the bullets didn’t do much damage. It grabbed Sam and threw him away, but when it turned to Sarah, it fell backwards as a series of bullets from her assault rifle struck it. It screamed in pain and collapsed. Just as it tried to get up, Sarah stood on it and pinned it to the ground, where it snarled angrily.
“Get the hell of of it!” A voice shouted from outside, recognising the voice, Sarah let the nameless get up, but it was blasted in the back by charge. It screamed in pain as the charge continued to burn its back, and it began to sizzle. Sarah could hardly look as it continued to smoke and sizzle, and then, it fell to the floor, and began to melt, skin and flesh liquefying and dripping onto the floor. The melting alpha staggered to its feet and stepped towards the source of the charge, but collapsed again, and then, all of the flesh melted off, revealing nothing but a skeleton. The charge blast vanished, and the skeleton continued to smoke. Sarah walked towards the source of the charge, followed by Sam and Kalmar. They gasped as they stared at the huge, muscly man standing infront of them.
“John?” Sarah asked.
“Yeah, it’s me, John, don’t ask how.” He said.
“Oh hell!” Sam shouted as the skeleton rose to its feet, but then, it disintegrated on the spot.

Prologue
A hunter walked through the bioluminescent region, armed with an assault rifle, he was intent on hunting down nameless, and had a charge lantern strapped to his back, just in case. Right now, all he wanted was to kill a karkinos, and use the chitin to craft some chitin gear. He was unaware of the terror lurking in the water as he walked past a river. It crawled out, a nearly shapeless blob of BIO-X, glowing green, with six stump like legs. It snuck up behind the hunter, and one of its legs stretched forward and transformed into a sharp spike, and skewered the hunter. He screamed in pain as he was lifted into the air. Two eyes and a mouth appeared on it, and it seemed to smile as it slammed the hunter into the ground with enough force to kill him instantly. It pulled its leg out of the dead hunter and crawled over his corpse, dissolving and consuming it.

Chapter two
The nameless struck at midnight, tearing down the door and waking up the group. Sam was the first to notice, and his loud example of profanity (it began with F) woke up the rest of the group.
“Geez Sam, watch your language!” Kalmar shouted, but had to cover his ears because of the loud gunshots as Sam shot a nameless in the head. Sarah rushed down the stairs, pistol in hand, and shot a nameless in the chest three times.
“What the hell is happening!?” She shouted as she crippled another by shooting it in the knee, before finishing it off with a headshot.
“We’re being attacked by nameless!” Sam shouted, “and I don’t want to die again, so let’s sort this out!”
“Wait, what was that?” Sarah asked, but had to spin around to shoot one on the eye, knocking it backwards.
“Ignore me!” Then, all of a sudden, the window shattered, and a huge alpha nameless burst in, glowing orange and lighting up the room. It roared furiously, and stepped toward them...

Chapter five
Blackness, all he could see was blackness, all he could taste was blood, and all he could hear was gunshots. A reaper had attacked them on their way to john’s base, the group were fighting back, apart from Sam. He lay on the floor, badly wounded, the reaper had grabbed him in it’s jaws and thrown him.
“I won’t let myself die again” Sam muttered to himself as he stumbled to his feet, remembering back to the day he died. Then, he looked around for his gun, but couldn’t tinfoil it.
“Damn” he muttered as he unsheathed his sword, and leapt at the reaper. He managed to slash at the side of it’s face, but was then knocked to the ground. The others continued to shoot, and then the reaper stumbled.
“Perfect” Sam slid under the reaper and stabbed upwards with his sword, piercing the reaper’s flesh and striking its heart, killing it. The reaper fell, dead.

Chapter four
“Your welcome” John said as he looked down at the pile of ashes “I saved your lives”
“Ok, thanks” Sam said.
“Right, I’m about to do something, don’t be alarmed...” John grabbed a torch from the ground and threw it at the house, setting it alight.
“NO!! What the hell?!” Kalmar shouted.
“Why’d you do that!?” Sarah shouted.
“Your base is a piece of rubbish, mines better, you should stay with me, it’s safer.”
“Alright then” Sam agreed. Then the trio followed John over too his base.
Sorry that this chapter was a bit too short.
