The best thing to do is 1. Get a arge, 2. Fill it up with stone or another heavy thing, until its ALMOST over-encumbered (aka so its slower when you grapple but not to slow. Now grapple onto that sucka and whistle attack target. Happy taming :)

A easy way to tame the Quetz is just by taming a Griffin first and having kibble. Once you tamed the Griffin you can shoot of it even in the air so I just chased it with my Griffin and it got knocked

If using Metal gates Cover the top with roofs as it can fly through the top of the gate somehow

Just wanna let everyone know, if you are doing the technique where you grapple from a flyer and whistle it to attack the quetz, you will have a lot of trouble hitting your shots so bring LOTS of tranqs

Get a tapaja and use a net gun then club it or shoot with tranq then your done up for more tips

Best way to tame in mobile:

Kill in the sky.

Build Revival platform.

Build stone wall & roof around the platform.

Revive Quetzal.

Sleep (it's help food level to zero).

Knock out & give any meat.

Done.

On mobile hop on the back of a tape grab your choice of Knocking it out and wistle the tape to attack

Ride on passenger seat on griffin and whistle target on quetzal, then use either tranq darts or bow with toxicant arrows and keep shooting until it’s knocked out, watch out for water though, it will drown.

Tame locations tend to be near green ob. I did find 3 out by coordinates 43, 54. River near volcano and redwood forest.

Just use a revival platform in a huge house easy it won’t fly away, build house out of stone

Tame tapejara. Jump in front seat on the ground. Use " go to this area" button to get air born. Comma on pc I think. I tell mine to chase other fliers. It takes a few tries. Use same button to direct tapejara to quetzal. I used tranc darts. And raw prime meat. Got lucky and killed some carnos next to him when he went down. I was level 90 ish and he was level 7 or 8. Took about 10 darts and maybe 15 minutes with the prime meat. Bring narco and be ready to kill anything around where he lands. He is a game changer. Once you have him tamed make platform saddle and use him to tame more.

Just use a rhynio, as you can shoot off the back of it.

Don’t need to mess around with argys and grappling hooks, just raise yourself a rhynio and you’ll find your life on ark gets a lot easier.

It's 2023. This tips should be updated. Different flyers can be used for diff methods. I only play solo, so to me the best flyers to tame quetzs are ones u can stand on (griffins/wyverns etc). It's too much of a hassle to switch seats & accidentally falling when you can just stand up lol. Also pay attention to the area when taming. The ground could be clear, but these flyers are seen over areas with all types of carnivores. And the faster the worst. The moment of knock you need to fly straight down and start clearing the area. And I mean IMMEDIATELY lol. Find low lvl if you can. Then build a quetz platform to tame higher level quetzs. I've been using the Ember wyvern bc of the aoe/dot.

Best bet is to use a griffon with shocking traq darts, watch what its going to land into before you drop it

And....if you see a Tek 180...tame it immediately no matter what

I know two ways to get this first is get on a tape with a friend/ally have them follow the quetz while you shoot it with tranqs option 2 is to go on any flyer jump off and grapple on to it and shoot with tranqs

DO NOT attempt to tame these jerks with a tek suit, because they will outrun you, or in this case, outfly you. and when you catch up to them, all of the torpidity you gave it is completely gone thanks to the quetzals unnecessary torpidity decrease speed. this is exactly what i did on my gen 2 world, and i was there for about an hour (it was a level 135 in case you’re curious) i did tame it, but it was very time consuming. the best way to tame them is to bring a friend, use a fast mount, a griffin for example, pick your friend up, fly alongside the quetzal while carrying your friend and pray he/she has good accuracy. if you find this helpful, up this! -J

If u play ark on a tablet or phone here is a taming tip: kill a quetz, dont harvest its body. get the implant, go home. build a revival/ taming pen, revive it and tame it at home in a pen.

TAME ONE THERE ARE GOOD FOR BAIT AND TAMING LIKE THE ROCK GOLEM BECAUSE OF THE PLATFORM SADDLE!!!!!!!!

If you plan on to revive a quetzal, make sure to have 40 to 50 amber

To the person who said you get a journeyman quetz saddle from the hunt argy pursuit, your right but it can drop anything above primitive I’m pretty sure, so it can give mastercraft or ramshackle for example, just wanted to clarify.
