(Level minus 1) times (torpor/lvl.) plus (lvl. 1 torpor) divided by (number of torpor for weapon)

Ex. Quetz: Lvl. 150 Weapon: Shock tranq

(149) times (111) plus (1850) divided by (442) plus (1850) equals (41.6, but let it be 42)

Yes, it may seem difficult, but it works on pretty much any torpor tamed Dino, just adjust the values

Everyone is thinking harder, but not smarter. When you encounter a quatzel (especially when you’re not ready) kill it. Go to it’s dead body and retrieve its implant. There, go to one of those pillars in the air (recommend the green one) after going back to base and preparing a bunch of darts/tranqs and what you’ll shoot them from. Then get some thatch foundations, walls, and roof. In the middle of the beam of light in the pillar, make a decent sized ‘+’ symbol with the middle part free from thatch. Make sure the walls reach three walls in height and cover it all up with a roof. Be sure you’re inside too when you sealed all exits. Once you’re done and ready, resurrect it. (Note: it will take up to 20+ Ancient Amber for a low level so I recommend stocking up) It will glitch, but as long as the main body portion is in the trap, you’re good. If not; planB. Hit it with the tranq and it should go down in less than 30 hits. I also recommend using a soothing balm to speed things up. Good luck!

These things take SOOO MUCH tranqs to take down and they barley even land and when your trying to net it on a flying animal 80 percent of the time you net your animal instead of the quetzal and also they break of their nets in 24seconds so bring lots of nets and tranqs!

Have a friend carry you on a fast mount with high stam. If you're solo, you can't do this without a griffin.

The easiest way to tame on on solo is to fly up to it and jump off your mount and immediately equip a parachute and then grapple onto your tame and then kill it and get back on your tame and fly to the ground to get it's implant.

I'm pretty sure the strange sandy mounds on the beach at cragg's island near the red obelisk are quetzal nests or something because I've seen quetzals literally just suddenly spawn right out of the ground on them!

Impossible to tame in single player without cheating.

The best way to knock out a quetz is with another quetz, which can hold many riders on its back with or without a platform saddle. If you don't own a quetz its best to pick someone up with an Argy or Ptera.

To knock it out solo, what to do is grappel into your bord, whistle for it to attack the quetzel, then whistle stop while you are near it and shoot it. Repeat the process and it should go down. With people, one person can pick you up with a pteranodon and fly to it. You can shoot at the quetzal while your buddy flys ahead of the quetz.

I was getting really mad trying to tame a 80 quetzal, I am single player so no tribemates to help. I had my pteranodon with 18 wooden spikes and I had my argent following me so I could get some prime after it gets knocked out. I would find the quetzal, land everybody, grapple onto the pteranodon after putting in a tame group, whistle attack THIS target on the quetzal. I see the red arrow on it and my pteranodon doesn’t move an inch. I tried so many times getting so mad, when I realized my weight was being added to pteranodon inventory. WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME THAT HAPPENS!! I watched like 5 guide vids before none of them mentioned anything about weight. So I chuck all my gear into the argent except the grapple and longneck, try it again, and I’m so happy when my pteranodon finally goes flying through the air in pursuit of the quetzal. Barely knocked it out with 1 dart left and parachuted down to put up spike walls. Got on argent killed a theriz and prime tamed the quetzal up. I’m happy but that thing literally took me like halfway across the map. Lmao sorry so long but I spent like 40 minutes trying to figure out why my pteranodon wasn’t moving

I found the safest way to tame quetzal..

Need.

1) revival platform

2) a flyer with high melee damage

3)some ancient amber

Now..

1)make cage arround you revival platform by using stone foundation, stone door frame and stone ceilings..

2) find a quetzal and kill it with your flyer but don't hervest it ..

3) take the implant..

4)revive it in the revival platform..it got trapped and can't fly away

5) knock it with what ever you have ..

6) feed it and tame it.

Boom you have a quetzal without taking any risk ..
