Tips & Strategies

What are tips for quetzal? Tips and strategies for quetzal in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Griffin. That's all I have to say, USE A GRIFFIN FOOLS, GRIFFINS ARE AVAILABLE AT LEVEL 40+ YOU JUST NEED A GRIFFIN TO TRANQ IT
Thank y out too ok the person who said one ark mobile you can go to the red obisk and do a tidy save and on the small island were one of the obelisks pillars are a quetzal spawns
To the guy who was wondering if you could land on the back of a quetzal and take it, the answer is no you cannot, you'll just slip off, trust me, I tried
To the guy who gave specific areas to find these guys on mobile, thank you very much. You’re right… that strip of land in front of craggs island, and the spike directly behind the red obelisk. Kill it and take its implant, and revive it on a platform with an enclosure around it. I’m literally doing just that right now. Happy taming! :D
I’m a lvl 84 and I’ve only seen these guys about 7 times. I was on my Argy, higher than the tallest redwood tree and I seen them. Yes they like to fly high and they have been watching you tame that lvl 45 dilo.
I used a griffin to catch it. You can shoot tranq darts while you fly him (it only took a few). Then once on the ground, i released a few high leveled spinos from cryopods to protect him while he tames. Only got a level 12, but oh well
Personally I find the highest levels to be spawning in between half burnt and north tropical (center) and near the snow mountains (island)
If you are on a map like Valguero that has Wyverns on it and happen to steal and hatch an egg before taming your first Quetzal, you can whistle for your Wyvern to follow you and if you dismount it while high enough in the sky (as you would need to be anyway to tranquilize a Quetzal), it will not autonomously land and you will be able to stand on its shoulders (or, if you're feeling particularly bold, you can move to stand on its head). From here, you have a stationary point from which you can shoot at a Quetzal, without needing a platform saddle, a tapejara, or a grapple. Set your Wyvern to passive before pursuing the Quetzal. Since your wyvern should be naturally faster, you can gain on it and even get ahead of or directly above the Quetzal, dismount, fire a shot or two, then mount and repeat.
Note: since the Wyvern models are different, I don't know if this will necessary work on all types. I tamed my first Quetzal on Valguero with an Ice Wyvern. Test the dismount method above a body of water or above a place you don't mind potentially dying with your Wyvern before pursuing a Quetzal or anything else with this strategy.
Honey honey honey for solo taming. Lure them to the ground by dropping above the quetz head. Trap with Dino gates. Easy peasy!
Bring an arge so you can shoot it.(I would suggest crossbow and tranc) knock it out clear the area from threats.(preferred food is meat) enjoy your new flying base😁
The easiest way to tame for mobile players is to kill it take its implant make a revival platform build a thatch house around the platform res pawn it knock it out give it meat give it a saddle and if you made the house right when you ride the quetzal he will tellport through the ceiling
Wont get angered by rare flower
There's a reason they're so goddamned hard to tame; they're a gamechanger. Even if you don't have a platform saddle they are extremely useful. They have a massive amount of stamina so they can fly for extremely long periods of time, their carry weight is comparable to some of the bigger land creatures like a diplo, and they can carry absolutely massive creatures through the air. It can make setting up bases in newer areas like the snow biome much easier. Personally I use it to make trips to some metal deposits in the tundra so I can get bulk amounts at once without either encumbering my flyer or bringing a clusterflock to disperse the metal. Once you have it, take very good care of it.
On ragnarok they spawn in the lava and snow areas mainly around 41.0 51.0
Guys.... Ur not suppose to use a petra/argy. Use the 3 seat birdie. saves some time and mats, and you don't need to worry about joining me in the dummy corner because you missed the grapple :)
So how to find this animal It’s usually near the red beacon Like this
