Tips & Strategies

What are tips for quetzal? Tips and strategies for quetzal in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
I only saw this once when I was riding a pteranodon, I was unprepared and inexperienced at the time. Now I have a tapejara and a good longneck rifle but I've been flying around the red obelisk for a while now and still no quetz
I just had my pal fly a dragon while I’m on it shooting it
Ive read a few of these tips... Why aren't people using a griffon to shoot from it while flying? I just did that easily they aren't fast flyers. Only downfall was it fell on trees and even after cutting trees down it stayed in mid air... Then for some reason when i need griff to stay stationary while i exit.. It doesnt want to stay still.. And sinomacrops and opening up inventory doesnt work fast enough either lol I just gave up and went to sleep.
USE TAPIJERA
1. GO NEAR QUZTEL CHANGE SIT
2. TAKE OUT YOUR LONGNECK RIFLE
3.SHOOT TRANQ DARTS OR SHOKING TRANQUIL DARTS
Solo taming is a ton easier now with a Tapejara. Fly near to the quetz, get off, get in the front passenger seat and whistle attack target on the quetz. Get your tranqs out and shoot it down with ease! (Also it's an exciting chase around the map, though on PvP you might have to watch out for enemy bases)
I recommend watching a YouTube video on how to use and argentavis and a grappling hook to tame this
Not a lot if people know this but one of the best places to fu d quetzals are around the mountains and top and bottom right sides of the map.
if your tapejara is too fast you can weigh it down w metal, stone, or its heavy azz saddle! (just dont weigh it to much or it will be way too slow..)
A cool battle :
First tame : quetzal with platform saddle that has c4 dodos on it and turrets mounted by 2 people. One for riding, over for throwing dodo bombs and making sure to restalk the turret ammo
Second tame(s) 2 high lvl yutys with good Stam and hp.
1 yuty is for the buffing the dinos while the other yuty is for scaring the enemy dinos away. (Make sure mate boosted)
Third tame : (s) 6 allos 3 raptors and 6 carnos for charging the main attack. Make sure to get them buffed by yutys and always have them mate boosted.
4th tame : (s) 10 dimorphs for support with quetzal and charging attack. (Mate boosted)
5th tame : (s)2 rythniognathas for taking the vaults and support with resin attacks.
Final tame : 1 high lvl diplo with all stats to hp tanking all of the turrets.
Setting : a hill with a base on top of it.
Description : diplo charges in first tanking the turrets while allos carnos and raptors come with the 2 yutys. Enemy sends in the dimorpths to deal with the charge attack but the 2nd yuty scares them away. Quetzal comes in hovering over the base while the remaining enemy dimorths come in to attack quetzal but are dimorphs easily take them down while the quetzal drop the c4 dodos doing massive damage to the roof which makes the rhynios come. Allos carnos and raptors have done most damage to the defenses of the base and diplo is picked up by the 1st ryhnio and put it away while the 2nd rthynio takes down the last 2 turrets with the 1 t Rex charging in from the enemy base so rthynio picks t rex up and flys him to base. Both rthynios come back and start raiding the loot by picking up the vaults to send back the loot to base. Mean while the enemy base sends back ups ( 2 trex and some dimporths) to try to recover there base but are charging attackers easily kill them. The entire base is looted and destroyed by your charging attack. So yea (epic)
Get a revival platform with a big enclosure around it, and then kill a lower level for its implant, and then revive it in the enclosure and tame it. You might have to save up a few amber(this is mobile I’m talking about), but that’s fine. If it’s available, do the tame quetzal pursuit and target your quetz, and it won’t be a low level anymore.😉
Are these supposed to be super rare cuz on my single player save there's to in the sky kinda low like every time I look up into the sky ps I my base is on cragg's lsland
Something you can do if you dont wanna go through the pain of knocking it out of the sky is to kill it then respawn it at an obelisk or respawning platform and have a taming cage built around it(that's how I tamed most of my dinos😂)
I decided to do the strat where i grapel to my argentavis and make him aggro to the quetzal. I damn near hit the quetzal 100 times with darts and it wont get knocked out (lvl 95 qtz). SOMEONE PLZ HELPP
This is for a quick and kind of ez tame for mobile players (i recommend longneck with darts)
1st step Tame a Tapejara (i recommend to level it up first and put some speed)
2nd step look for a quetzal (bring soothing balm and rex kibble for easier tame)
3rd step after u found a quetz, save your game in one of the save slots (mobile only i think)
4th step whistle the tapejara to attack & change to the passenger seat
5th step tame
(Bring some prime if your taming a highlevel or more kibble)
Ride a flying mount... Anything- pterandon, argy, pelagornis, tapejera... You don't even need to ride it... Just shoot it with a grappling hook and order it go to a specific location, you can do this continuously by whistling it to fly you around... As long as you're grappled to it, you can use any melee weapon... This works for literally any monster that you want to tame, but don't want to get close too... Just hover above your target and shoot at it... No building traps or standing on cliffs... The sky is the limit... It took me a year to figure this out... I've never seen anybody do it on YouTube or anywhere else, but I did it today on a vanilla official server... I tamed my first quetzal and named it Pretzel... It's torpor drains really quick so I kept it sedated with a combination of berries and narcotics... I fed it prime meat and mutton... YW
Ride a Griffin then take out a rifle . Shoot it then keep following it entail it stops runing then shoot again and again entill it's knocked out . Also if on ragnorok look for it in the wyvern trench or proferably in the ice regions but watch out for yutyranuses !
These guys are annoying to knock out so make sure it's protected as when I knocked mine out it had 38 health and a bloody bug killed it
