These guys seem useless at first, but are great tames! They’re found on two maps, in one biome for each map. They’re found on gen 2 and lost island, eden biome on gen 2 and on lost island, the grass platoi areas.

They lay eggs of different qualities, from basic to exceptional! This allows for great and easy taming! They are also the first genderless BUT breed-able creatures, thus being extremely unique! They are mammals, thus they breed with a gestation period after the breeding! They are great tames and can be used for many things! They are the fastest creature you can get on lost island, making it easy to get wyvern eggs if the wyverns are distracted! The taming is pretty simple thankfully! Best way to tame them, is by netting them and then building a trap around them, then nocking them out. They’re saddle is easy to craft and unlocked early, thus this can be a very good early tame! To end this of, I’d like to tell you all that this creature is based of a flying squirrel and a platypus! For now, hope your ride with the colony ship stays steady! And remember! Keep surviving! I spent an hour looking for them on ground in the red woods but I didnt realize they mostly spawn in the water so bring your snow owl to find the most and check the lakes.

It’s a knockout tame and can be fed meat to tame but after tame its a omnivore

You got a solid 7 seconds before they enter the stratosphere so shoot fast

A 130 level took three tranq darts. It ko'd underwater but does not have oxygen so will survive. Feed mutton for quick tame!

Tamed a 116 and it only took about 5 tranqs

I had forgotten that they spawn in Asgard,this is so people don’t suffer by going into the redwood’s.

These guys are easy to tame, you can either build a trap around it so it doesn’t dart away or you can net it with a net gun. I recommend the net gun, that’s what many people use. You don’t need to waste so many darts on the maewing since it gains torpor easily, but also keep an eye on its health just in case. Since these guys don’t have genders, you can breed them and both maewings will give one egg. They also will nurture your baby tames! Great creature to have, since they are incredibly fast and will take care of your baby dinosaurs, as well as carry them with its saddle. Up this if it helped! :)

So I found out that these guys can’t get knocked out by headshots. It’s as if they weren’t hit in the first place. Lost a 145 Mae cause of it not taking torpor from headshots. Just wanna make it known

Eat a rare flower and lead it to a trap. Easy tame, mutton is everywhere

They cannot drown so if you k/o in water, don't panic. Advice- use a bird with decent hp in Lost Island as there are many sarcos & raptors around. Best found scattered in 50x60, 60x70 square on map.

It's omnivore. We've been taming them with mutton all day. So both seem to work. And if you put both in inventory it'll eat meat first.

These guys are found in the redwoods but I've found they're much easier to spot in asgard (North was where I found a bunch) also make sure to net gun them otherwise they're almost impossible to tranq because they glide when shot

How to easily tame and what you will need

Materials:

rifle and a couple of tranqs to knock it out (you won't need many because they have low torpor)

You may also need some natrionics just in case

You can also use a harpoon and projectile so it doesn't get away

How to tame:

First locate a maewing and clear the area of hostiles

To make it easier, shoot the maewing with a harpoon with a projectile in it so it can't get away

Then shoot it with the tranqs and put any type of meat or kibble in its inventory (if U have soothing balm or sanguine elixir you can use that too which gives around 20-40% taming)

Then BOOM, after abit you have a pet maewing, gl taming!

If anyone’s curious where these spawn with a mod to have them on the island map. They spawn in the north area of the redwoods and would only spawn for me when I was close.

How to tame on fjorder! (Bc that’s the map I’m on♥️)

items needed: Net gun, Net projectile, Kibble/Berries/Meat and a good Dino for protection (Thylacoleo spawn near and by the Maewing spawn area)

1. There located in the redwoods, North East, Top right corner of the map

2. Go to 21.18 83.3 and you should see a lake and then you should see them/one now it gets tricky..

3. If it’s out of the water you are in luck!! If it’s in the water that’s gonna be harder, if it’s in the water shoot it so it comes out but you will have to chase after it because they won’t come and attack you once you find it net-projectile it and knock it out (preferable weapon: Shotgun). If it’s on land just projectile it and knock it out.

4. Feed it the kibble/Berry/Meat(It’s a omnivore) and watch it’s torpor just incase it doesn’t go down that fast but still.

5. Watch out for predators like: Terror bird, Thylacoleo, Direbear, Troodon all of the dangerous stuff.

6. cryopod the Milker and take it back to base, place it down, name it(if you have a name) and yea! You got a maewing :)

How to use(Nursing)

Items needed: Meat(if carnivore or omnivore)Berrys(If herbivore or omnivore) etc(if diff)inside of the maewings inventory. Proceed to put your baby to the maewing, go into the maewings wheel and press nursing mode and milk will uhh.. *silence* squirt out of its.. tittys yea uhm.. Ignore that😃. Your baby’s will have a trough above there head, that means the maewing is nursing them, it will make them go up so you don’t have to do it by putting food in the baby/trough. But you still have to take part and put food in the maewing. Cryopod your baby’s and turn off nursing for the maewing when logging off unless you have a tribe member who will watch over the baby’s a little and get meat etc for the baby’s to put in the maewing.
