Tips & Strategies

What are tips for maewing? Tips and strategies for maewing in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Flying Tips for PC:
Hold space bar for a second or two to pop into the air at max height then shift to glide.
Angling your camera up will put on the “breaks” in air and start to slow you down.
Holding shift when landing will slide you along the ground. holding down space bar with shift during this slide to pop up again will make you go even higher and faster. Great way to climb walls and mountains.
Angling your camera towards the ground will tuck in the maewing’s wings and kind of look like a dive bomb. Do this before landing on the ground while still holding shift. once you hit the ground you’ll start sliding, press space bar down for a few seconds and release quickly for an even larger boosted jump in the air.
Continue to hold the space bar+shift down to slow you down completely.
Let go of shift when landing you will stop immediately and not slide.
Right mouse button when gliding is for a parachute mode. Great for scouting an area and resume gliding!
Landing can do damage, the sliding does damage, so be careful when coming in fast near dinos you are taming.
Use a harpoon launcher equipped with a net projectile. Then tranq and tame.
Use a shocking trank dart with a good long neck riffle the feed it 5 superior kibble it will tame fast then enjoy
Use the net projectile (shot from Harpoon) and then tranq. Berries will work, but raw meat/prime will work well (and name it Perry or ur stupid)
Why waste time building a trap, just net the sucker and knock it out. Feed it the best you have.
Get harpoon launcher. Get ney ammo. Shoot. Get tranq. Ok it. Stuff kibble into its face. Slap your saddle in your new Perry the platypus
A cheap, mobile trap to tame a maewing would be 3 billboards, 2 pillars and 3 triangular roof/1 square roof. Enclose the maewing with the billboard in a triangle. Place the 2 pillars adjacent to the base of the triangle then the roof. Ta da! You now have a maewing :)
Lays all kind of quality eggs, when mating they lay both fert eggs and can give birth as well. Only mate a pair at a time. They have options to pick up babies till ado on rexes for example so size don't matter, other option to turn on through for baby, baby can be in or out of saddle it doesn't matter! Game changer!!! Enjoy.
As far as taming goes, just chasing with your punch boost and shooting tranqs from a primitive compound bow have worked just fine. They get stuck in mountain rocks or in city walls or in general very easily.
This thing is super OP for the ease of taming and the travel efficiency. Its a good swimmer. You don't get stunned off of it by shock. Breathes underwater. If you get the timing right, one of the biggest jumps I've ever experienced in the game. The stamina doesn't go down while gliding. The turning radius is excellent while flying. With a good saddle, can help you encounter almost anything. Very good for getting up and out of a dangerous situation. I can really keep going. So far, I'm super impressed with it.
To knock these out just get an equus with very high melee and use the kick to knock it out. This is the only way I have been able to knock one out before it flies away. It eats meat so I would say mutton or kibble because Ovis are common.
This tip is only useful in things like fibercrafts but for a meeting 550 and above it takes two hits from a max longneck
Neato creatures, their secondary attack gobbles up babies and stores them in baskets while acting as a mobile feeding trough for them. It will keep them inside the baskets until they are fully grown as well then will pop out. Not very good in a fight but very easy to keep up with in your tek suit, but a fun ground/aerial mount addition to the game
They run away verry fast when you hit them so you have to use the new net gun to stop it from moving then it only takes a few tranq arrows to ko. tames with meat and berries.
I bred two, they had to be rather close together. Each one laid one egg of different "quality." When the eggs popped out, they hatched SO QUICK. I'm not sure if there was an egg boost on the server from the gen 2 missions at the time, but just commenting in case other people experience that
Forget Mejoberries! Feed it mutton from ovis you find around the eden biome and it will go quicker! Feed maybe 2-3 sheep per lvl 145 maewing
They things are really easy to knock out with the net in the harpoon, also plenty of ovis near where they spawn so easy mutton for it.
