Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a hesperornis? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a hesperornis.
This is me : [×÷×]
Still on mobile
You can drag hesperornis in any water(swamp, lake, sea, pond)
On the map If you shoot them with grappling hook from crossbow. So you can drag one where there are lot of fish and trap them in cage. Also i advice you stack up some fish before you try taming one
Hear me:
I am on Ark UME(new mobile) singleplayer.
I try carrying it with grappling hook. I shoot it and it worked.
The rope of grappling hook pass through everything so i drag a hesperornis while i am at the back of the wooden cage. When it stopped walking i close the cage. I bring really big fish, the biggest i get it for was 1.8 . They say the fish blocks you to interact with hesperornis, so i tried riding a tame creature and drag the fish(a big one and i used ptenarodon) and the fish was in the feet of my pte then i try getting close to hespe in cage and see if interaction buttons shows. And it did show so it take me 5 more than 1.0 size Ssalmon to tame lvl 110. For the sabertooth salmon i got, i use (and force my self to tame a ichthyornis the annoying bastards who eats items stolen from me when they attack) the small bird common to see in the beaches to get the salmons for me. They carry the whole fish body if you order them to attack the fish and the catched fish is enhanced, you get prime fish meat from it even if it was not supposed to be. The enhanced fish gives more taming progress on hesperornis.
This here is just a mark to knew if this is my tip: [×÷×]
I don’t know what’s going on, but you cannot make a cage and trick the AI into going in the cage… that’s probably something that worked a long time ago.
🦆 Feeding Protocol – Fish on the Ground
• Kill a fish, ideally a Sabertooth Salmon (offers ~4× taming progress) or piranha (~2.4×) .
• Drop it on land near the duck—ideally in shallow water close to shore.
• The duck will waddle over and eat it. Reports say larger fish = faster taming .
• Some players use a simple trap: a 1×1 enclosure with an open side and ramp so the duck enters, then cage it, feed fish through its bars .
• Want passive fish‑hunting? Set it to aggressive/wander in water, let it kill fish and eat corpses, then move it to shore to feed .
⸻
🌀 Temperament & Aggression
• Ducks usually ignore creatures unless you’re close or near their eggs .
• If you touch them, they’ll bite and flee—don’t shove or whack them accidentally .
• During taming, they can become hostile—sometimes glitch or wander off; best to use wander/aggro with manual fish feeding .
• Ducks may trigger aggression if eggs are nearby—players report wild ducks attacking when you loot eggs .
⸻
✅ Summary of Best Practices
• Bring big fish (Sabertooth Salmon or piranha).
• Drop fish directly near duck; use traps if helpful.
• Use aggressive/wander behavior in water to self-feed, then bring to shore.
• Avoid touching the duck or its eggs until tame—it’ll bite!
• Keep ducks away from eggs while working with them to prevent hostility.
The only reason these were added was for polymer.
I'm just wondering why hasn't there been a taming calculator or taming table added to hesperornis yet mention about the different sizes of fish used to tame the creature and the time on how long it takes to tame it?

Could just be a coincidence but I had a MUCH easier time feeding this guy fish while he was swimming in the water than on land. It took a lot of back and forth but he wasn’t constantly pecking me in the face and the dead fish body wasn’t jumping in the way so that feed fish/release body wasn’t interchanging every time. I could barely approach these dudes on land because everything was working against me. I have two parasaur tames stationed parallel the water crossings with their turrets enabled so they can warn me if something nasty heads my way while I’m distracted underwater.
Use a rex and a crossbow. Find a LOW level (20 or less) bird swimming on a river. Use the rex to clear both shores of all nearby carnivores, then have the rex stand in the water and kill any piranha that show up. With your rex on PASSIVE follow (otherwise it will eat your fish), swim in the river and shoot a fish with your crossbow (sabertooth salmon are best, then piranha), then DRAG (do not harvest the meat) the fish to the bird, which is passively tamed. Rinse and repeat. (I find if the bird is swimming, it's easiest to folllow it and try to feed it the fish while you are floating under the bird.)
Just kill and get the raw polymer. Please don't try to tame. (will take 3 hours).
Build a pen to lock them in and then bring fish to it to tame and earn yourself a golden egg to make kibble
If you are force taming, these guys need to be awake for the command to work. It is cheap but trust me you probably don’t want to do an hour long fetch quest for it.
Side note; the hespers have an instant kill attack on fish.
Can’t tame in snow cave on extinction.
Lasso, drag onto a trap boat, then ride around to the fish. Bigger the fish, faster the tame.
Feeding them sabertooth salmon seems to work the best.
Of you want to tame one of these I've noticed that they sometimes they come to you like dolphins if you have fish on the final hotbar spot, might be good to keep in mind if you are having trouble lugging a giant fish around with you.
Use an otter or itchyothornis to collect fish for you then go to the hesperornis and feed it the collected fish. They love sabertooth salmon so target those.
You can easily kill for polmor
Don't bother seriously. They are a pain to try and tame. You xan grab a fish 3 times the size of the bird and what's this? 10%!
That's right. Unless you have at least 10 fish all ready to be dragged don't bother.
Tame a icthycornis and make it grab a fish it works way better in fact that is the correct way to do it or intended
Feed it fish also it is a flightless but fast in the water.
Make one wooden floor with Four Window frame walls and ramp trap. Than lure it inside by leting it atack you when Come close. Destroy the ramp to not get wandering dilo inside. Than use your Ichthyornis to get some golden fish and bring that to feeding Window or you Can get fish by your self using spear. Wish luck
