I don’t know what’s going on, but you cannot make a cage and trick the AI into going in the cage… that’s probably something that worked a long time ago.
🦆 Feeding Protocol – Fish on the Ground
• Kill a fish, ideally a Sabertooth Salmon (offers ~4× taming progress) or piranha (~2.4×) .
• Drop it on land near the duck—ideally in shallow water close to shore.
• The duck will waddle over and eat it. Reports say larger fish = faster taming .
• Some players use a simple trap: a 1×1 enclosure with an open side and ramp so the duck enters, then cage it, feed fish through its bars .
• Want passive fish‑hunting? Set it to aggressive/wander in water, let it kill fish and eat corpses, then move it to shore to feed .
⸻
🌀 Temperament & Aggression
• Ducks usually ignore creatures unless you’re close or near their eggs .
• If you touch them, they’ll bite and flee—don’t shove or whack them accidentally .
• During taming, they can become hostile—sometimes glitch or wander off; best to use wander/aggro with manual fish feeding .
• Ducks may trigger aggression if eggs are nearby—players report wild ducks attacking when you loot eggs .

✅ Summary of Best Practices
• Bring big fish (Sabertooth Salmon or piranha).
• Drop fish directly near duck; use traps if helpful.
• Use aggressive/wander behavior in water to self-feed, then bring to shore.
• Avoid touching the duck or its eggs until tame—it’ll bite!
• Keep ducks away from eggs while working with them to prevent hostility.
