The Direwolf is a vicious wolf that comes in packs, so I will tell you a guide to it. #1. The dire wolf can be found in any snowy area, but also the desert. They come in packs of 3 to 5, so be careful. They also are known to attack mammoths to kill them. They are a really good mount to tame. #2. To tame a dire wolf is simple. All you have to do is knock it out, and put meat in it. If you want a certain one in a pack, kill off the others. They have one attack, a standard bite, but can leap very far, are really fast, and have a pack buff. The pack buff will let you absolutely shred anything in your way. You must have at least 2 wolves for the pack buff. #3. They can be white, dark gray, light gray, sandy colored, brown, or I think black. They will usually be found in hostile territory, so kill any other Dino in the area around them. If you have a lot of high levels, you can destroy almost anything with them. These guys are BEASTS at harvesting hide. I was crafting a master raft therzi saddle (you need abt 4000 hide) I just used my direwolf and I got 4000 hide so quickly

Are u tired of dying from pack of dire wolves trying to tame one?

Well i have some few tips to tame this brave fearless guy

First of lets prepared the food from most effective to least effective

Carnotaurus kibble/mobile

Raw mutton

Raw prime meat

Cooked prime meat

Just incase

U can find dire wolfs in the cold biomes watch out for rexes. To tame one of these guys i reccomend using the fur set..u can build a box trap using 8 wooden wall 4 wooden foundation and 2 rails

I reccomend using tranq darts or trang ammo for begginers using longneck or crossbow should be good, lure the dire wolf to the box the knock it out by pleasure, the second one is a little bit safer but watch your step. This one called the pillars build a 6 pillars then get on top of it kill the dire wolf that u dont want to tame. And start shooting the high level dire wolf when its running away chase it until its knocked out, once it knocked out put ut food of choice in its inventory and make sure u have bio toxin or narcotics so it dosent wake up until its tamed...now for bonus infos, dire wolf can be ridden without saddle, its really fast among sabertooth and raptors...i guess thats all i can reccomend for you guys and have ur self a very good day!

On SE they can be found alone in the desert, needles to say they are still dangerous as their speed and attack can kill low level survivors in seconds.

Advise is take bolas and then poke with spears

I highly recommend taming with raw prime meat. I tamed a black one with prime meat and it started at 52%!!

This is how I tamed my wolves, ITS HOW I DO IT, so don't get mad :

Step 1: make 3 or 4 stone foundations, place near wolf spawn.

Step 2: make proper amount of stone doorways for this, preferably 8. Place with foundations.

Step 3: Place 2 wood or metal ramps, since there are no stone ones. Attach them to the doorways.

Step 4: if you have a buff flyer, something that can take the damage, maybe Argy, use it and find wolves and lead them to your trap. Lead them up the ramp, flying over the trap with your tame. The wolves MAY jump out, but you can re-lead them into the trap.

Step 5: When you have successfully trapped as many as you'd like, kill all nearby threats, then tranq the amount of wolves you want. If ones very low lvl or horrible stats, you can kill them.

Step 6: hang out with your wolf cult

Dire wolf's can't damage stone so use 4×4 stone doorways and go the doorways high with a ramp perfect trap

I can’t recommend these guys more for running caves. They have great knockback, keeping snakes and scorpions away, and they can be tanks if their health is lvled enough (10k is MORE than enough for caves, and alpha battles) they also fit through the exit to the Artifact Chamber in the Hunter’s Artifact cave, making it so much easier to clear that cave again, and again, and again. -BrokenWolves

Best way to tame these beasts on scorched earth when you pick one out fly or jump onto a rock just high enuff so the wolf can not reach you then shoot/trank away and tame your new beast!!! ^_^

If you're on mobile u can get super op dire wolves by killing and using a revival platform to resurrect the dire wolves in the snow cave

You can expect your snow base to be frequently harrassed by these guys. Build spike walls around your base to keep them out or at least make it easier for your tames to take them out. Never go out alone, even a lone mammoth is likely to die from a pack. Unlike raptors or sabers they get a pack bonus like compies, and they get an alpha buff. Shotgun can easily drop individuals.

Just finished my pack of 17 wolves and I must say they are underrated.

yo are these guys good on mobile cuz I just found a pack with a lvl 145 and a lvl 130

Just a tip NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER get near a direwolf at a low level u will get shredded when u hear the howl

Found a pack that led by a lvl 150 female, but she decided that Giga is good food for dinner...

At least my bird managed to grab her lvl 145 husband

If you can tame it it is a really good tame! You don’t even have to have a saddle you can ride it bare back

These wolves spawn only in packs and are 1000% hostile to everything they encounter quite wandering around. Use a Fabricated Sniper Rifle to weaken and get killed the weather wolves you don't want to tame, and letting the 145-150 Alphas survive. Then help the Alpha win against that Mammoth that killed it's pack, with your rifle. Bola and tame it after.

The direwolf is a great early to midgame mount for anyone who is able to tame them.Whil a you may think that there is just one always watch out mine times out of ten there is a pack.If you are able to tame up one that will become one of your most trustworthy mount even at low levels.

1. Get an argy and get it to grab a dire wolf

2. Get it to a safe spot (like I did but then a theri spawned and killed my newly-tamed dire wolf :( )

3. I recommend feeding it raw prime meat grab extra in case it spoils I did it with only 2 prime meat
