What is a direwolf used for? direwolf battling strategies in ARK: Survival Evolved.
Vicious and lightning fast, the Dire Wolf is a great all-around mount for adventuring and attacking. I highly recommended to bring packs of Dire Wolves for any hostile situation. Whether it be kill Alphas, or raid bases, it's size, agility, and damage make for a deadly beast.
People have been saying these are a good tame for early game, but they aren’t. Why? BECAUSE THEY LIVE IN THE NORTH ZONE, YOU DO NOT EVER GO THERE IN EARLY GAME. EVER. Also, hide is actually an easy resource to get in early game, they are just good for farming pelt, and that is difficult to get.
Direwolves are easily my favorite tame on the island, they are extremely good battle creatures especially in packs. Breeding and imprinting (which I did) as well as leveling them up means you can take on nearly everything. It’s extreme mobility and small size means you can use it for most caves, as well as collecting tons of chitin and meat along the way. This is a 9/10 tame for me, due to its relatively easy taming process (bola then tranq) and its extremely versatile usage.

For the person who said they don't know why direwolves are the best angler gel gatherers, put ur doggo on the shoreline, go diving and kill an angler, then DRAG THE BODY to the direwolf and have it harvest the angler corpse OR go to the snow cave with a dire wolf and hunt the anglers living in the shallow ponds in the cave
Hope this helps!
I’m on mobile, and I find it hilarious to own wolfs and very practical for one reason : while they have no saddles… you can put YOUR hats on them !! Which means you can recicle your old équipement on them, and as your equipement can have quite high values… well, more tanky wolves for the win !
They can also use your hat skins, which means you can have cool looking wolfs with rex skull helmets, smart one with the nerdy glasses… or even creepy ones with the clown mask.
Only caveat is the hats still have their durability… so be careful !
