Tips & Strategies

Here is Ee’s starter guide to taming a dilophosaur! (Yes, I named my character Ee. I couldn’t think of anything at the time.)
Step 1: Locate a dilophosaur. They can usually be found patrolling beaches and green areas, hunting down parasaurs and such.
Step 2: Knock it out. Pickaxes and hatchets work fine, and slingshots can be good if you want to lower the risk of being attacked.
Step 3: Give it food. Prime meat is recommended, but raw meat works too.
And that’s how you get your very own dilophosaur! It will spit venom at enemies, blinding them for a moment. It’s a great combat game for starters!
first-time players beware, these things are vile, they wander around the starting area patrolling for newbies to spit venom at… directly in their face. my tip? run for your if it’s coming up to you.
How to tame a dilo :D
1.kill some dilos, dodos or compy so that you can collect meat.
2.Craft a slingshot, wooden club or you can beat it with fist (If your trying to knock it with fists choose a low level one; if with slingshot collect a amount of stones first also remember wooden club breaks fast so craft and keep atleast 3 more wooden club for backup)
3.Find a dilo
4.after it's unconscious open its inventory by going near to it and tap and hold. After you need to put some meat which we collected at first
5. Wait.....if your dilo eats all the meat but still not tamed put some more meat to its inventory and wait......
6. Finally you tamed your dilo 😆
Name suggestion - toxic dino
These guys have the worst manners, they will literally spit in your face. One 🔼= one of these guys going to manners camp
Pretty easy to tame them. Just knock em out with a bola or a slingshot and put raw meat in inventory and you got yourself a poisonous reptile to call your own. I am making a guide for every creature so make sure to like this if you found it helpful.
1. Find dilo
2. Hit with club until it got knocked out
3. Pit raw meat in inventory 5-20
4. Enjoy your dilo
So I was on a parasaur hunt which my dilophosaurus poisie, and as soon as we saw one, she darted at it. We chased the parasaur for about two minutes before we came to a cliff. The parasaur jumped off. I new better then to follow it because even though it’s not a super long jump, the area at the bottom is wicked dangerous. Yet poisie followed. I didnt have enough time to tell her not to. So of course I had to follow her. We got to the bottom but the parasaur wasn’t to be found anywhere. I could see poisie however. She was swimming in front of me. We came to a small island in the middle of the river. We stoped to take a breath when all the sudden, out of the bushes comes a trio of dilos! I looked at poisie and commanded her to attack after a minute a dilo killed me. This brought me into great alarm because I had no idea which way to go to get her. Soon I got a notification saying that she killed a dilo. Even better, I got a notification saying that she had killed another one. She still had one more to get, but then I got a notification saying that she had been killed. ): Note: 1 UP = RIP for Poisie.
Dilos are annoying and basically useless, but here’s a guide to tame them anyway!
1. You will need food for the dilo, easiest is raw meat, however it will take its effectiveness down quite a lot. I recommend using prime because it loses only one level and is easy to get. If you are a perfect tame snob, use kibble or mutton.
2. Fists can be used, however there is a risk of dying, so I recommend a slingshot. Clubs work, but are still risky, because it could bite you. If you can afford tranq arrows, they are quite good. Darts are a waste, just use arrows. No trap is needed because you can outrun them and the can’t kill you if you keep your distance
3. It is a quick tame, that doesn’t need narcs, so it’s usually best to just wait by it. Make sure you have enough food and that it won’t spoil before it tames
Happy taming!
P.S. I am making in depth taming guides for every creature in ark. They all are formatted like this and end in happy taming. If these are helpful, raise them to the top, so it can help more people. Thanks!
For begginers:
Make a club
Beat dilo in his face
Put some meat into it's inventory
Repeat tillyou have 5-6 dilos.
Tada!! Now you have dilo army
As well as good meat and hide farm...just get them on hunting with you.
One down if you like it😄
How to tame a Dilo :D
1. Get a slingshot
2. Knock it out with the rocks your slingshot has
3. Feed it meat
4. Wait
5. Congrats! You have a dino who spits at people’s/dino’s Faces! (That’s kinda rude)
If you don't they can be pack hunters
•ULTIMATE DILO GUIDE
TAME:
•10-20 Raw meat.
•One slingshot.
•Only use bat if you have at least 120 health.
•Bola if you have access to it. (Not necessary, recommended.)
You will usually find these in packs, try to kill all the dilos nearby first, they will defend the one you try to tame.
Attack it by it's back, never stay nearby the head, they'll split poison at your face if you do.
(In case you are using a slingshot, headshot it, but try to dodge it's split, when it opens it's mouth and frills, it's about to split.)
(Use bola if you have it. Be aware that it can still split when trapped.)
Once knocked out, open the inventory. Put about 16 raw meat.
(Some of the raw meat isn't for taming, it's for feed.)
There, you have your own dilo.
UTILITIES:
Can hunt down stuff like dodos or compy packs for you. Be aware that it has fairly low damage and health, needs a pack to hunt bigger, agressive things.
CAN ALSO HUNT:
•Lystosaurus
• Moschops (In pack)
•Parasaurs (In pack)
•Pachys (In 5+ dilo packs)
Pros:
•High speed, can blind enemy.
Can hunt things like dodo •quickly.
•Quick taming.
•Quick breeding.
Cons:
•Will likely die to most dinos if not in pack.
•Fairly low health and damage.
•Can't mount.
BREEDING:
Build storage boxes around them, if you don't have acess to storage boxes yet build a one by one thatch house. (Roof not necessary but recommended.)
Enable wandering.
HATCHING:
Needs 3 campfires, putting torch on egg recommend.
Hatches fairly quick, put about 30 meat on baby's inventory.
Make sure to imprint.
PROTECTING YOUR DINO:
Make sure you have a base with spike walls around your base as soon as possible, A dilo can be killed by literally anything on passive mode. If you can't put them inside your thatch base.
Put 5-10 meat on each dilo's inventory, make sure to replace it every 2-4 days.
Having 3 or more..
