A trail of blood

Chapter 3

Arac stalked through the woods, the jungle tree vines, got stuck on the spines on her back, irritating her. She crouched down, sniffing the air. She smelled another carcharodontosaurus. She was shocked, as meeting another carch in her territory. Well… it was sort of her territory, or maybe not. But she needed the extra prey, yet a fight would just be inconvenient. Her left, hind leg wound was still healing. She turned around, grabbed a raptor by the back, breaking it’s spine with her jaws, and walked away.

Arac woke up to the sound and smell of a large carnivore. After awhile, she realized it was a giga. She let out a growl, getting to her feet.

“Who’s there!” She growled.

The giga poked it’s head through the cave entrance. The gaze from the giga was curious, not threatening.

“What do you want?” She lowly growled.

The giga turned around, giving Arac a view of the forest fire, a little far away. She guessed the giga’s nest was destroyed bu the fire, and she slightly moved over. The giga entered the cave, and lay down on the leaf covered floor, the small stalactites on the ceiling casting shadows over the cave, slightly light up by the fire in the distance. Arac took a deep breathe and glanced towards the giga.

“You got a name?”

The sudden question shocked her.

“Arac” she replied.

“Mines Raven, but I personally like Eden more.”

“Then that’ll be what I’ll be calling you” Arac said. She glanced back at Eden, with a questioning gaze.

“Where did you get the name from?”

“Which one?”

“The first one” she paused, “the one you don’t like?”

“Before I got into the wild, I was stuck in a fighting arena, I was given the nickname Raven, because of my jet black scales.”

“Oh…” Arac didn’t know what to say.

They sat silently, watching the burning forest as the flames towered up towards the sky, smoke seeping out of the scorching blazes. Arac’s eyelids got heavy, and soon enough, she drifted of to sleep.

-Survivor

Eden is a young, dark grey giga with some jet black scales here and there on his body, he’s got some small arrows stuck in his hide, and he’s got a large scar on the snout, which is hard to spot during the dark thus why Arac couldn’t see it when they met. More characters are going to appear in later chapters, but for now, the main story still hasn’t started. Consider the first five chapters the prologue of the story! Thanks for reading!
